Captain America: The First Avenger Read-Along Storybook and CD

We have many of these Disney Read-Along audio books. The ones based on the Disney movie follow the movie story line pretty closely, and incorporate actual dialog from the movie with the original voice actors. They are also written for the 3-6 year old audience, as intended, with simple words, no scary parts, and the books tend to be short.This book also follows the movie story line BUT Captain America is PG-13 and appeals to older kids and adults. So it did NOT translate well to a book for young children. First of all, there was way too much text. The book is wordy, each page is full of words, and the story goes on forever. My 5 year old listened to it once and said it was too long, and put it away. The story line and the pictures are scary. Remember, the movie is about a war, a horribly mutated evil guy, death, fighting, danger, etc, and this was all incorporated into the book. It is not suitable for this age group. Captain America's real voice is used, but he mumbles a lot in the movie, so I could hardly make out what he was saying on the CD.This reads like a plot summary book for older kids or even young teens, but HEY, that age group does NOT need a CD audio book. They can read.I do not recommend.

My 4-year-old loves this and several other CD storybooks we've bought for him. The downside as a grown-up is that he will listen to the same story over and over again, but that's the price I pay to keep him happy on long car rides! He has several of these types of books, but Captain America is by far his favorite. He will also listen to the CD without the book if we don't happen to have the book in the car with us. These books are life-savers for long car rides!

This book is WAY too old for young children. It features scenes from the live action movie. Our four-year old grandson asked to shut it off. I explained to Amazon and they refunded the price.

Needs to be for a 6+ child story and writing is not appropriate for a child younger than this

Looks good. Haven't used it yet as it's a Christmas present.

These books are favourites in our house. They are a great alternative to watching TV for my 3 and 5 year olds.
