Size down
These socks add a good amount of compression. I am a young nurse who is on her feet 12.5hrs a day and these work well, although I could tolerate a stronger compression. I guess these are good for people who are just getting used to tight socks. I am a size 9.5 but have very narrow feet/calf so I am a size small/medium, even though the package says I would be a large. If you are stuck between sizes and can tolerate a snug fit (not in the toe box!) then size down.

Great stockings, I recommend them to my patients
As a physician who has worn and recommended compression socks for many years, I needed to find compression hose that I could wear for protracted periods of time and socks that I could recommend to my patients. I find for both myself and my patients that it is hard for many patients to tolerate intense compression. With Older patients with fragile skin, the high compression can cause skin problems. Many of the compression hose are just plain uncomfortable, cause dry skin and itching. Not Sockwell. I now have many pairs of these socks and they make a huge difference. The swelling in my legs is markedly decreased. They rarely itch and are comfortable for the entire day.. Some of them do leave a pattern on my legs but it rapidly dissipates and is of no consequence. My patients who have bought these are very happy with them. I can strongly recommend them.

I wanted graduated stockings that are warm without feeling like nylons. I had some socks that I loved ...
I bought these socks in medium/large as per size chart recommendation. I wear size 9 shoes but size 9.5 work shoes to accommodate for swelling. I work as a nurse in a procedural area and spend over 8 hr days standing. Maybe more. I wanted graduated stockings that are warm without feeling like nylons. I had some socks that I loved but are no longer holding their shape and now ride up the foot, cramping my toes. I decided to try these. They are warmer without feeling like a sauna. And they actually provide graduated compression. They are thicker with a tighter knit on the foot and ankle. On the center of the foot is compression for the foot arch. The knitting and compression ease up as it travels up the leg. Maybe it’s my fat legs, but the Knit appears to stretch pretty thin. It doesn’t feel like the seams are about to rip, or like it’s going to cut off circulation. And bonus point, my feet don’t stink as with the polyester socks.

One AWESOME pair of comfortable therapeutic performance socks for men or women!
I have tried other brands of compression stockings before but they were too uncomfortable due to leg pain.. Stockwell women's chevron m/l fit me. I am 6' tall and wear 12m in a woman's shoe or 11m in a mens shoe.I was doubtful they would fit when I ordered them.I used dishwashing gloves to put them on at first to stretch the stockings gradually over my feet and legs without ripping them. I can feel the compression but it's not painful. Also, they breathe and are not hot. Made in the USA to support the "revival of the American textile industry" Made with "homegrown American wool to support American sheep farmers. Way to go Stockwell!

Great for travel
My first pair of compression socks to wear while flying, can't recommend enough! My ankles swell during the day so thought I'd try these out on an international trip - I could actually feel my ankle/calf swelling go down, as if I had my feet propped up, that cooling sensation. The only downside is that they are very warm/wooly, so you might overheat if the temperature is warm. As for fit, I ordered the S/M, and I'm 5'2" 110lbs, US women's shoe size 5.5, and they fit very well, tight but not impossible to get on. The sock went all the way to my knee. The foot part was slightly big on my feet but not baggy, just not tight. I wore them for two 3-hour legs and two 7-hour legs, and they still fit tightly. Plus they are cute! I ordered the dark gray chevron and they arrived as pictured. Plus the packaging was minimal and biodegradable, which I like.

I love Sockwell compression socks!
My feet and ankles are prone to swelling, so these are a great solution for that. The thing is that my feet and ankles swell (1) after a long day of work and being on my feet and (2) in the heat and humidity of the Arkansas summer. The good thing about Sockwell socks is that they are breathable so that I can wear them in the summer months without getting too warm. These socks do NOT cause my feet to sweat, and that is an added bonus during humid months. I had a routine doctor appointment recently, and my doctor mentioned how much she liked my socks. When I told her they were compression socks, she almost didn't believe me because usually compression socks are fairly unattractive; but Sockwell chooses designs in a wide variety of colors and styles that are really pretty and look more like trouser socks. I prefer the florals. Some are more athletic or modern looking. But she loved them and might get a pair for herself!

For me, not worth the price
I purchased these to use while traveling hoping to keep my legs from getting as tired. Wore on a 6 hour flight in the winter (going to Iceland where it was around freezing) and really noticed no difference from flights without them, except that my feet got a lot hotter due to the tall socks while flying which made me more uncomfortable than normal. I wasn't hoping for a miracle, but was hoping to notice some difference. For the price I paid for a single pair of socks, I wish I hadn't bought them. Maybe they would be better tested when I am on my feet all day but I think the same overheating issue would come into play unless it was really cold out.

Foot sizing didn’t work for me
These socks are clearly well made. I have ordered and will keep 3 different styles -and both sizes - but will not order them again. I wear a size 8.5 or 9 shoe. The medium large were too long on my narrow feet and scrunched up in my shoes. But the small medium are really too tight and too compressive for comfort. I need to look for a different brand

Waaaaay better than no-name synthetic compression socks!
I confess that I balked at the price initially -- I don't think I've EVER paid $20 for a pair of socks!!But if you're looking for compression socks, I definitely recommend these over ones full of synthetic materials! The wool let my feet breathe, whereas they baked and soaked in the synthetic ones that I bought at the same time to test out!My calves measure 17.5 inches, and these fit me. They also don't pull weirdly where the diagonal patterns are, like some patterned socks do when putting them on larger legs. And they weren't TOO tight, even around the top band -- I didn't need to yank them off as soon as I got off the plane, like I had to with the super tight synthetic ones, and they didn't leave a deep ring of compressed skin at the top of the band!I've washed several times in the machine, tossing them in the dryer, and they've held up just fine and haven't shrunk down to baby booties. My ONLY complaint is the orange band at the top. I love purples but never wear orange, so I'd have preferred that they stayed within the same colour scheme as the rest of the sock.

Would order again
These are great, so far they've washed well, compression is comfortable and not horrible to get on. Wore on a 10 hour drive and they definitely helped. I'm plus size and pregnant and will likely order more

but I decided that it would be a good idea to start wearing compression socks on long haul ...
I'm not used to wearing socks so tight, but I decided that it would be a good idea to start wearing compression socks on long haul flights. I didn't get DVT, so I guess these worked! I love the print. :)

Great product and stylish too!
Bought these socks for long flight to Australia. These are the second pair of compression socks I’ve bought. My first pair were purchased in the airport. These feel better and look cute! They performed as expected; no swelling and I even forgot I had them on.

I have ordered more!
They arrived promptly, fit well and did the job! It's nice to have compression stockings that are a bit fun to wear! I don't think the compression is quite as high as my "ugly" stockings, but for around the house they're great. I've ordered more. Having them wool is really nice. They're more breathable than other stockings and should be a little warmer in winter.
