Must have for data center technician
This is better than those flimsy cage nuts tools. I should have bought this year's ago. I recommend you have at least one of these in your bag.

This tool is only as good as your cage nuts
Tool seems well made and is effective at installing cage nuts. What I have noticed though is that this does not make up for buying cheap poorly made cage nuts. I have a large number of nuts all from the same vendor that have always been a problem to install, at least on the 42u Dell rack where I use them. This tools makes them less difficult, but still not what I would consider a smooth fast process. On the other hand, I just bought a small 12u from startech and it came with some of their cage nuts and they are much better made to start with. This tool works very well for them and installation is quick and easy. Also note that this tool recommends installing your cage nuts with the clips oriented top and bottom. This is to allow the handle of the tool to swing far enough to complete its task. Prior to this tool, I always installed with the clips oriented to the left and right, but if you are installing in a server cabinet you may not have room to swing the handle.

Your fingers will thank you
If you install or remove cage nuts enough that you are even looking at this product, chances are, you would benefit from having it. Sadly, I can't that I have used the product near as much as I thought I would due to a job change. The new employer had a threaded rack so I only got to use this a handful of times on one-off jobs or temporary locations where a small cabinet or rack was necessary but, my fingers (and my coworkers) still thanked me for the handful of times I have had to use it.

Expensive, but worth it
This thing is the only way to go if you spend any significant time in a data center. You can use the cheap all-metal ones that look like they came out of a cereal box if you want. You can even use a PCI card bracket want to. I have. But when I was tasked with moving 3 whole racks of equipment from one data center to another, I was so glad I had this thing. Seriously, it's the business class of cage nut tools. Highly recommended for those who have learned the hard way how much it sucks when a cage nut bracket slips and shoves itself under your thumbnail. Been there, done that. The time and band-aids you save with this thing will more than pay for it.
