Amazing piece of equipment. It's great to come across a meter where the engineer's actually listened to what real tech's truly need in a multi-meter for hvac. Same cannot be said for Fluke when they came out with their "hvac multi-meter" that doesn't even read millivolts.

This meter does NOT read DC AMPs. It reads µA DC (microamps DC). The specs do not state that it reads DC AMPs, so there in no fault with the unit. Just thought people would like to be aware they cannot measure DC AMPs with this meter.This is the best meter I have ever owned. I have had Fluke units in the past, but this SC640 is just more enjoyable to use. Very well built and accurate.I use it primarily for HVAC work. I needed to measure 2A - 5A DC so I grabbed the SC640 out of my bag. I hooked it up, then attempted to set the dial to ADC. It was not there?!?! There is a setting for µADC, which is awesome, but it will not read DC AMPs. I just assumed it did everything else, why not DC AMPs?I LOVE the SC640 for everything else. The features that really make it stand out for me - Backlit display, Magnetic strap on the back, and the overall shape of the unit. It is very comfortable to hold.The image is also wrong on the Amazon listing as of 6/11/2016. The image in the listing is the SC620. Avoid over inflated competitors and get this reliable and reasonably priced option .I get rained on, 150* attics, muddy crawl spaces etc. This is a quality unit for professionals who are expected to get things done. Its magnet on the back, swivel head and clamp meter makes this "DO EVERYTHING" meter a trustworthy companion to a service mans tool bag . Capacitance ,AC,DC, millivolts, ohms, flame current k clamp for thermostats (super heat/sub cooling) etc.

This meter is well made packed with functionality and is reliable. I used this model for 7 years before it got destroyed, I won't go in to that. So I bought the exact same model. New unit is identical to previous unit. This multi clamp meter is worth every penny. The magnet on the back is strong enough to stay in a convenient place while working. I keep mine in a veto mb clipped on the side of a larger veto bag.
