Just Awesome!
This jumps right in where Alpha left off so you should read that first otherwise you will not know what is going on or anything about the characters.Kyrie wakes up to find Roth gone with a note written in blood stabbed into his pillow. She freaks of course and we are off! This book is non-stop action and sex! It grabs you and I couldn't stop reading. Do I really have to eat???? I actually got the audiobook upgrade for this and was now listening on my commute to work. Pretty soon I am listening at work and after work, and every chance I had! I really loved Kyrie and Roth and their love for each other from Alpha. OMG!! Jasinda really upped the ante with Beta!! It tests our couple at every turn and I was just enthralled. I can't tell you about the plot because it needs to be experienced first hand. Kyrie is one tough girl! Love is the underlying theme throughout and the lengths one will go to to preserve it. Please, please, please, give this a read and if you can, do the audiobook. I really enjoyed that aspect of having it read to me so I didn't have to concentrate on reading the words but just enjoy the story as it unfolded. I loved the narration done by Summer Roberts. Her inflection of Kyrie was spot on for me and her version of Roth? Better than the male's narration of him in my opinion.Yes, this was a very graphic book. There are many scenes of graphic, gory violence. There are scenes of torture and rape. There are scenes of explicit sex. But Jasinda does an awesome job of wrapping all those up in a present of suspense that we just can not stop reading. This book ended how it needed to. I loved it but this chapter is over. I know there will be a final book, Omega, that will deal with Beta's aftermath and accountability. I am certain I will read it but probably through my fingers because I expect it to be a doozy! Well done!

Wow...Just...Wow!!
I don't know what to say... I don't know where to begin! This book was so much better than Alpha! There was SO much action, drama and excitement! This book took the "crazy ex-girlfriend" to another level and then some!In Alpha, Kyrie St. Claire and Valentine Roth get together, defying the odds and obstacles that should have kept them apart. They are in love (say it with me now: Awwwwww!) and they embark on an around-the-world trip (Roth owns property, like, everywhere... even though sometimes they apparently stayed on a boat). Their fun and sexy vacation turns into a nightmare when someone from Roth's past resurfaces...Gina Karahalios. She is more than a crazy AF ex... she's an effin psychopath! The things that Gina does... it's so off the rails... even crazy people would say "WTF?!"In this book, we get a lot of detail about Roth's past (which helps to explain why he is the way he is). We also get to see Kyrie go legit bada$$.Just like in Alpha, there were lots of descriptive sex scenes; but, unlike Alpha, they (most of them, anyway) serve a purpose and enhance the story. (It was kind of intense, y'all!)I absolutely LOVE Roth, Harris and Henri! I don't think there was anything I disliked about this book. The suspense kept me on the edge of my seat.Even though, technically, this book doesn't end in a cliffhanger, it kinda does. Vitaly Karahalios is on a rampage...and he's gunning for Roth and Kyrie! What's gonna happen! Gotta read Omega next to find out!

A Visciously Brave, Stunning, & Extraordinary Book...
What a rocket powered launch into book two of Jasinda Wilder’s Alpha Series! Where “Alpha” was a slow, romantic stroll, “Beta” is a jet engine wearing pack of psychopathic roller derby queens! Despite beginning mere weeks after “Alpha” ends. “Beta” grabs you by the throat, rips you from the serenity of Roth and Kyrie’s world exploration, and thrusts you into Roth’s former world of international arms dealers as his past catches up with him. Thus, setting them both on a terrifying path of events that leave them at the brink of life and death. This book is far beyond the label of “erotic” and every reviewer comparing it to others such as Fifty Shades should be ashamed. Because this book, this series, is so much more than that. Oh no, this book is no mere romance or erotic novel; it is a Jason Bourne meets Fatal Attraction juggernaut! And it will leave you breathless…and disturbed. This installment is a lesson, that in life, the sins of youth often get repaid in horrifying ways. And as if Wilder is compelled by demons to drive this point all the way home, she extraordinarily shifts “Beta” into perilous, life altering territory. Territory I can honestly say I have never seen in a novel like this before. “Beta” is a stunning departure from, not only the first book, but almost everything else I’ve ever read within this sub-genre! And in a heartbreaking, rage inducing turn of events Roth is pushed beyond reason, forced to endure horrifying, truly life altering actions. Then, just when you think things can’t get worse, Kyrie is thrust into the clutches of an evil so desperate to destroy them both she must alter the very fabric of her humanity to survive it.The chain of events put into motion within this story is nothing short of extraordinary. Not only for its unflinching brutality, but for the courage undertaken by Wilder to write a piece so viciously realistic, so horrifically honest in its premise, so absolutely soul crushing in its portrayal, it will leave you speechless. In all the dark romance books I’ve read over the years, never have I encountered such a reversal of circumstance. And I truly applaud this author for writing it. Because despite its brutality, it’s gritty and real, it’s truthful and believable, it’s as shocking as it is heartbreaking. And in a literary landscape where woman are the typical victim, it’s necessary to remind the masses that cruelty happens to men too, no matter how strong, how alpha, how in control. Life. Just. Callously. Happens…Never in my life have I wanted to reach into the pages of a book and kill a character like I did Gina. I will be honest; this book is not for the faint of heart or easily offended. This is not the slow and sensual journey of book one. Roth and Kyrie’s plight is truly difficult to read. Your gut will clench. Bile will rise in your throat. You will cringe, and gasp, and seethe at the terrors written within the chapters of this book. But my god is it brilliant! And I promise you. I truly, irrevocably swear to you, it is worth it because, beyond the brutality, beyond the shattering of bodies and souls, there is unadulterated beauty in the chaos. Because from despair grows unshakable devotion. From the horror grows a love so deep it cannot be broken. From the violence grows a loyalty so profound it will never waver. And from it all arises something so strong, something joined so firmly on an emotional and cellular level, it makes the mythical phoenix look like a damn baby duck. And I fear for anyone who thinks to get in their way or threaten their happiness in book three. All the stars, this book gets all the stars out there to give, and even though published some years ago, easily makes my top reads of 2019 list.
