I thought it was totally engaging from page one to the very end, cryptic enough to keep me reading long after my bedtime. It's one of those stories that you keep you asking, "What the heck is going on here?" while still being understandable. I was captivated by the twists and turns in the plot and found the two main characters sympathetic and interesting. I enjoyed learning more about them as the story progressed and seeing them develop. Is it all realistic? Probably not, but it is fiction after all, and thoroughly entertaining. It's not so far-fetched that I can't use some imagination to enjoy the creative plot-line. I cannot wait for book two... the cliff-hanger at the end is killing me! Review: EDGE OF YOUR SEAT STORY! - From the moment I started reading this book, I was hooked. Maybe it was the story, or the writing itself, but I loved it. This totally could have been a one-day read had my schedule allowed the time. Instead, it took me two days. There are several things that irked me about this book. First of all, I put the clues together pretty quickly, and knew the general idea of what was going to happen. I WAS COMPLETELY WRONG ABOUT THE ENDING, but I saw the generalization of what was bad idea, who to trust, who to not trust, and who was the Outlier before anyone in the book wised up and thought about their predicament or put the pieces together. Second, I found Wylie to be a completely unbelievable character, and not in a good way. She has not left the house in weeks due to anxiety, but suddenly her friend is in danger and it's like a 180 on her will to be a normal person. Maybe more like a 150, because she still has anxiety, but she uses it to her advantage to further them along in their quest to find Cassie. But she still cannot see she is being tricked? It reminds me of the Pretty Little Liars series (which I did read most of and found them entertaining) in which I want to keep screaming, "JUST TELL YOUR PARENTS ALREADY! OR THE POLICE! OR ANYONE!". On the positive side, all the twists and turns were amazing. I'm always baffled at how authors can flip a switch and everything you thought you knew is wrong! It's really hard to write much here without giving away spoilers, so I'm just going to say that the story is great, the characters worked well with the plot (despite my feelings about Wylie), and it's a very intriguing story to figure out who everyone is and what in the world is really going on. The books ends on a cliffhanger, which sets us up for a second book. I hope it isn't too long of a wait

EDGE OF YOUR SEAT STORY!

Greedy bastage pissed me off. Not bad but not great either.
The first book didn't have much of a plot to it. It is what I call a "set up" book. It leads into the plot line for following books, doesn't have much to it. You don't really get attached to the characters in this first book. It makes me feel like this writer is one of those who's trying to get as much money from their readers as possible. Instead of offering a full story in one book, lets hack that book into parts and make the reader pay as much as I can for it. I find it annoying. Give your readers a full book. Then offer as many books to follow it as you like. But at least make them feel like they got their money's worth. This series is original, I'll give 'em that. It's not really scary so I wouldn't classify it as horror. It's kind of modern science fiction. It's a nice read. A little slow in places. But doesn't get interesting until book three. Probably the point. Make you buy three books until you get hooked on it, wondering where the story is going to next. I like it enough I'll finish reading the series, but I don't think I'd recommend it to a friend as an 'amazing' read. But just something to do on a rainy day when you want to chill, relax, and want a book you can put down, walk away from, pick up again later.

Fantastic
Contemporary Young Adult It has been over a week since Wylie last heard from Cassie. Since their last fight. Wylie does what she always does when Cassie is in trouble and that is save Cassie from herself. It is different this time though. Cassie keeps sending cryptic clues instead of just telling Wylie where she is at. Cassie also doesn’t have Wylie come by herself like she usually does. Cassie sends Jasper to help Wylie. Wylie doesn’t feel right about trusting the guy that sent Cassie off the rails to begin with. Since Wylie doesn’t have any other choice she needs to ignore her gut instinct and go with Jasper. It goes from difficult to dangerous fast when they try to figure out where Cassie is. Wylie struggles to control her growing sense that something is very wrong as she and Jasper head farther and farther north into the dense woods of Maine. Cassie isn’t telling them something and now they are wondering if finding her will only be the beginning. This is a fantastic suspense story that will take readers on a roller coaster ride. Once the action starts it doesn’t stop until the very end. It will also have readers wanting to know what happens next. With each clue that is revealed the story takes another turn that will have readers wondering just where this is going to end up going. Wylie makes for an intriguing character that makes for an engrossing read.

Good book
This book kept me interested for the most part. I would have liked to have learned more about some of the backgrounds of a few of the supporting characters. But overall this book kept me involved in the story.

Couldn't put the book down
I almost want to give 4 stars only because I need to know what happens next. But, I enjoyed this book too much. Held my attention right away which is hard for me when I start new books. Wylie is relatable, and easy to root for, and the story could lead in so many directions from here. The twists and turns made it hard to interrupt reading it in one sitting to keep up. Loved the pace and the writing.

The story line to this book started with a God plot, fast tracked to a gripping scenario then towards the end the ploy became tangled and confusing making it difficult to follow what was supposed to be true. Not a fan of this one and won't be reading the remainder of the trilogy. It doesn't put me off the author though, just not my taste in storylines.

This book starts off with potential and then leads into a bizarre twist that is unrealistic and frankly stupid. I kept pushing through hoping that there would be something at the end to tie everything together but not a chance. I am slightly curious if there is a sequel but won't put myself through it again. It was a fairly quick and easy read.
