They actually pretty nice most of the time, if you ask them how long they've been in the ball you may get an answer or possessed and there is no "best by" date but don't feed them after midnight. Good lord, don't feed them after midnight.

No it doesn’t. It opens but it houses the batteries and lights/proximity sensors
