Size:H11  |  Color:Pink HID lights have a glass chamber of gas that replaces the filament of traditional halogen light bulbs. The gas is ignited with an approximately 23,000 volt charge and stays illuminated by a constant 12v source that is provided by a ballast which is connected directly to your battery. Remarkably, HID lights are able to provide greater light output with much less power consumption. Studies show that an HID lamp produces 3 times as much light compared to a 55 watt halogen bulb. Moreover, the 55 watt halogen bulb uses a continuous power draw of 10-15 amps, while the HID system uses 20 amps for starting up, but then drops down to a mere 3 amps during operation (that is up to 80% less power during use!). In addition to high output and low power usage, the HID headlight provides longer service life. With no filament to vibrate and fatigue, under normal driving conditions, HID bulbs last roughly 10 times longer than halogen bulbs. What is the HID Color Temperature? Color Temperature is a measurement in Degrees Kelvin that indicates the hue of a light source, in this case the HID bulb. Color temperature is a characteristic of light that is sometimes misunderstood as brightness, when it's more closely related to cool and warm color tones of light. While cool and warm are words used to describe a light's temperature, this may be a bit misleading. The term color temperature actually refers to the color that is associated with the amount of heat needed to produce a color in from an ideal black body. Here is a rough guide to Color Temperatures for our HID bulbs. It is hard to describe HID colors accurately because different people tend to perceive colors slightly differently. 3000k= Yellow, 4300k= Bright White with a hint of yellow, 6000k= Pure white light (some people detect a slight blue), 8000k= White light with a blue tinge, 10000k= Light blue, 12000k= Deeper Blue, 30000k= Violet/Purple.

Looks great on my 2015 Silverado 1500 - 8K
So far, so good. I wanted a slightly blue color to give it more of a custom look without sacrificing performance. The 8K-55W was exactly what I was looking for. The ballast and bulbs feel like they are made of good quality and the plugs all matched up to my factory harness just fine.

STUPID BRIGHT! haha
I can't explain how happy I am to finally have this. The 55w is SO much better than the standard 35w. It's extremely bright, doesn't "wash out" as much as people say and it's very nice to have. Even in pure daylight I can see the difference. Easy install, no flickering. It does take about 20 seconds for these babies to fully warm up, as with most HID sets, but WOW are these bright and effective. I'd definitely recommend this!--Update--(Previous review was installed on a '12 Challenger; I've since bought sets for an '08 Ram Big Horn pickup and the below '15 Jeep Wrangler)July '15 - I bought a new set of these for my '15 Jeep Wrangler and they again are absolutely awesome! I've used the 6000k and 5000k versions. They 6k's "look" more appealing with a hint of blue although the 5k's are visibly brighter. I can't believe how stupid bright these are, haha! It's fantastic! High-beam is literally not necessary and probably would be an "off-road only" application, but they're still fantastic! I highly recommend!(First photo is of low-beam and second is of high-beam. As usual, it's difficult to actually capture what your eye truly sees versus the photo, but they're extremely bright and I highly recommend them!)

Works great, pretty much the same as the 35w versions
Works great, pretty much the same as the 35w versions. To clear some things up:-The color temperature doesn't get "washed out" because its 55w. If you buy 5000k, you will get 5000k.-The brightness is the same as 35w HID's, maybe its a little more bright but I couldn't see the difference.-The heat produced by these 55w bulbs are much more than the 35w versions. This will cause the bulb to burn out faster and cause faster aging on your projectors, which if you have stock projectors, they are probably very expensive and that is a big no no.So pretty much you are going to want the 35w version, these are not brighter, will burn out faster and cause more wear and tear on your headlights.

Scion tC 2013 projectors headlight.
Alright, first of all, this isn't an "I hate" review without good information behind it, I'll just state my personal experience with the product. I installed in less than 10 minutes, but there was something I was concern about, THE HEAT people say it produces, with a lot saying that it melt the headlights, wires etc...they turned on with no problems, everything good, I took one bulb out after 10 minutes of use to find out that the bulb itself was melting, yes, the base where the bulb rest it was melting in the inside. I put it back to check the heat coming from the headlight, boy I don't know what temperature this thing gets, but I could feel it hot by placing my hand in front of the headlight , about an inch away from the headlight surface. My 35 watts kit doesn't produce as much heat, same with the halogen bulbs. I did my research before buying this 55w kit, because I heard that they produce a ridiculous amount of heat, I won't get scientific here, do your research. At the end, I decided to give it a try, but once a saw that bulb literally melting, I just decided to send this back, I don't want to replace my headlights because of this, or even worst, having the bulb (plastic base) melting inside the headlights. I am giving three starts because Amazon charged me 7 dollars to return the item, they have never charged me before for returning something. Oh well, the other reason I'm giving three starts is because packaging was horrible, a mess inside that box, I've seen many complaints about this a lot in the reviews. Last but not least, my other reason for 3 starts, well, I spent most of my review on that ( this lights melt) change the bulb base to metal or something that resist the ridiculous heat.

Well made/everything works well. O...and good price!
Product seems pretty sound. I always thought this was a cheap"ish" kind of kit but its ok. The ballast seems well made and solid for a small ballast. I've ordered these 55watt ballast with 5000k bulbs and although they look more white with a hint of blueish in them when your looking at your headlights from outside, when your inside and looking at the light shining out on the road, the out out looks like a greenish blue. If you are looking for that more natural white, I think 6000k is the way your going to need to go.I have a rather expensive German made HID kit installed with my retrofitted headlights and those are 5000k 35watt and they give me that OEM NATURAL white light. Looks very good! These look good as well as they are pretty bright. If you have trouble getting your light pattern setup right, rotate your bulb around while the lights are on (at night) and watch the beam till you get it set where you want it. My kit came in fully function and professionally wrapped. I recommend 55w 6000k for that natural light output.
