This kit comes with a disposable plastic drain plug which only works with plastic oil pans that come on the RWD BMW models. xDrive models have a metal oil pan, therefore a metal drain plug which requires a crush washer. It seems all retail outlets/aftermarket suppliers do not understand this model distinction as there is no other option available aftermarket - ended up having to purchase the proper filter kit from the dealer - fortunately pricing was very close to aftermarket.

Despite what the Amazon site and the Mann Filter site says the HU 816 Z is not the correct kit for a North American 2015 428i xDrive. The filter and O-rings are correct, but my car did not have the plastic drain plug, should have gotten the HU 816 X kit. (as this was the first time I changed the oil in this car I should have check the car first, but instead trusted the web information when I knew there were two possible kits) Not a big deal just re-used the existing drain plug compression washer, not Ideal but it's not leaking.

The xDrive (All-Wheel Drive) Oil Drain plug is metal and is not plastic. The kit needs a metal sealing ring instead of the plastic plug that is provided in this kit. Plastic plug is for Rear Wheel Drive which has a plastic oil sump. All-wheel Drive has an aluminum one.
