From creator Kurt Sutter comes the adrenaline-charged Sons of Anarchy, featuring exclusive "creator's cut" episodes and kicking into high gear with its biggest, most explosive season ever! As SAMCRO's new president, Jax is surrounded by ruthless enemies and gut-wrenching betrayal. With Gemma ghting for control of the family and a bloodthirsty Clay out for revenge, Jax nds himself haunted by the sins of his past. Alliances are forged, friends are murdered, and loyalties are put to the ultimate test. Now, with the truth in sight, Jax must do whatever it takes to secure the legacy of brotherhood and protect his family-even if it costs him everything. Review: FOR TRUE SOA/SAMCRO FANS, THIS IS A CAN'T MISS SEASON, WITH A LOT OF CHAOS BEING CREATED BY GEMMA AND CLAY - If you are an SOA fan, this is a great season. There are a lot of clues in this season as what should happen in the end of the show. Gemma is running around drinking, getting high, and sleeping around wrecklessly with other people, after she just ended her marriage to Clay, after all the destruction he has caused. Causing the MC to retaliate on someone who wronged her, and accepting a new partnership with a "companionator" named Nero which starts off the season. If you have read Shakespeare's Hamlet, you know the line about letting Nero entering/ not entering Gertrude's heart. As a darkly comedic answer to that, Nero (Jimmy Smits), is entering Gemma's life in another way physically and her heart as well, for now. This forges a partnership between Nero and the SAMCRO, that leads his life back into chaos once again, after he is trying to go straight for his handicapped son, Lucius. There is also a lot of push and pull between SAMCRO and the One-Niners and their leader, Damon Pope, along with retaliation for what Clay caused Tig to do in season 4 with some horrid consequences for members of SAMCRO. We get introduced to a transgender named Venus, played by Justified's and the SHield's Walton Goggins who plays a transgender prostitute who Tig seems to comically show a liking for, and if you are familiar with Shakespeare, he did use men to play women in his plays. Jax also utilizes Tara to help the MC with a RICO case, which will bring some consequences for her as well. Also there is a desperate search for some legal documents that may be important in the end of the show in season 7. . .This show really pushes the boundaries for TV, but there really are some lessons to be learned in how lies will eventually catch up with the MC, and the consequences of those lies and the violence it causes in this type of life, and on those around the perpetrators, as well as themselves. Review: soa soverreign - these season premieres are often like the first chapter of a book and in this case this book ahould have thirteen chapters this year. Soveriegn is the first chapter of the fifth season of Sons of Anarchy leading in from the last chapter of Season 4. Kurt Sutter and company have, for the last four seasons, brought the story of Clay, Jemma, Jax and the rest of the motley crew of SOA and all their darkenss and have never dissappointed. This season, Sovereign is that first chapter and yes, it did start off with an incredible beginning. I highly reccomend that everyone watch SOA but if you don't know the show, you need to watch the whole show to understand what is going on. SOA is a journey, not a show that starts a story at 9pm and concludes the story at 10pm. It is a tapestry that is woven, every intricate, with it's dark yarn and thread. it is not for the feight of heart. As for this episode, what can I say? Dark, slightly twisted, turns take you into other turns not unlike a motorcyclist traveling at high speed through Southern Califonia canyon, not knowing what is around the next corner. Kim Coates is a standout this season. An often underappreciated actor, he showing he can hang with the best of them as Tig, clay's sargeant at arms. If he doesn't win an emmy for his performance this season, i want to know who does. I highly reccomend, not this episode, but the series for anyone that liked "the Sopranoes", for anyone who liked "The Shield" or for anyone that thought the first four seasons of "The Wire" were the best television ever did or had to offer. But just like the aforementioned tapestry, this show is a set of four books (so far) with thirteen chapters each and going to the middle will leave you lost and confused. Sons of Anarachy, as a show, is right now one of the best shows on TV. Soveriegn, is to me, a kick off for book 5 and closure to chapter 13 book 4. I suggest everyone catch up!

Fantastic show and a great season - Kurt Sutter keeps you on your edge.
Tig was a hoot! So were the rest of the gang. Definitely a classic! Watched it twice & Would gladly watch it again! Love the show, was a nice departure from some of the heavier topics (still recovering from Opie). We are hooked & happy to have the episodes so we can watch again (esp. Next year before season 6 starts). ****************** Dec. 6th Update Just watched the last episode of the season. Wow. Many things happened that I didn't see coming or went the opposite of what I'd thought. Gemma has power. Jax is getting harder and losing his grip on his morality. I could go on.... Kurt Sutter is a genius. Love the show. We started watching because we love bikes, became hooked because of the fantastic writing, acting, visuals, and Greek tragedy type storylines. Can't wait for the next season. This is the first show that truly leaves you hanging and wanting more. Kudos to Sutter and all of the cast. Also - No issues with the viewing. We watch via Comcast without issues. Love having them to re-watch. We started watching the first 3 seasons (Spring 2012) on Netflix - then bought Season 4 via Amazon when it became available. Nice having them to watch whenever we want. Will definitely be watching them again soon.

5 seasons in and I'd guess that, if I didn't like SoA, I'd know it by now and stop ordering the DVDs! Looking back, though, I;d say this might be the best season yet. It's got everything in it the previous seasons had - intrigue, violent death, double-crosses, humour - but more so. There are real surprises scattered throughout the season; clearly no-one on the cast list can consider themselves in a nice, safe job as well-established characters still die as the story progresses. Jax undergoes a real baptism of fire in terms of leadership whilst banged up in the chokey and it's by no means obvious whether he'll be able to tie up the loose ends and still be the Jax Teller we've come to know. It's spooky (and no mean feats of writing and acting) to see him gradually turning into Clay as the season progresses. As usual, the set ends on a cliff-hanger, you know it's going to but it still comes as a shock when it all pans out as it does. If you've liked the previous stuff, buy this one, you won't be disappointed. But, please, don't jump in here and hope to pick it up - there's just too much history you won't fully understand and you'll miss a lot of the effect.
