Replacement Keyboard for ASUS X551 X551C X551CA X551M X551MA X551MAV Series Laptop No Frame

PERFECT FIT! My laptop needed replacing, as I was overzealous cleaning the last one and broke a key trying to replace it. This fits exactly on my ASUS X551M. I had to replace a hard drive so figured it made little sense not to also replace my broken keyboard at the same time.You have to pop out the little plastic rivets that ASUS uses to hold the keyboard in place, so you'll need to use a little tape to stick this keyboard on. I've had it now for at least a month, and I use my keyboard extensively. Seriously, I'm on it all day typing, so really happy that this one is working perfectly fine. I'll mention that my esp key makes me have to press it a little more than the old one did, but that doesn't impede anything for me usefulness wise. And, that could easily be because I taped, or didn't tape that corner well or too well, certainly, it doesn't bug me enough to pull it apart to check. If that's the only complaint, it's good!

This keyboard is attached to the frame with 69 plastic weld tabs. To remove the old keyboard I used a cheap soldering iron to melt the plastic tabs while pulling the keyboard away from the frame. Melting the tabs (as opposed to grinding) leaves some of the tab with the frame that is remelted to hold the new keyboard in. To each weld point I applied a drop of Cyanoacrylate glue (superglue) that is instantly cured using a small ultraviolet light. Keyboard is solidly attached and works like new!

This is a pretty simple, effective keyboard that does what's needed. Note that the installation on this series ASUS requires you to snap off all of the small plastic rivets that are holding the keyboard secure. This is a fault of the construction of this type of laptop, and not due to this product. I used superglue around the the rivet holes, being sure to keep it away from the keys themselves. There's possibly a better adhesive to use.. perhaps one made specifically for this purpose.

need to tape it in place with like electrical tape or somthing. everything works as should tho. i bought 2 of these do not use wet hands! i always wash my hands at work and 1 little drop of water will fry the whole keyboard. i ended up finally buying a oem replacement on ebay the whole palm rest with keyboard for 14 shipped way happier

This is a second order of this product because my son again pulled the keys off of my laptop. This is a great product. I will say in order to get the most out of it, you need to install it properly. The first time I just dropped it in and taped it down on the end and while it was installed began to droop on one side and shift. Took the time to hot glue the keyboard in using the old securing tabs as a guide and anchor, and it looks and feels like the original.

Keyboard was a great price just over 12 dollars. The install was a little tricky have to brake the plastic rivet to replace keyboard. That is on ASUS' design but replacement keyboard works great keys feel good when typing. Hopefuly the keys will not fall off like the original keyboard.

There were no instructions. The small plastic studs that this keyboard connects to breaks when you remove the old keyboard. I used 3M Plastic and Emblem Adhesive to hold the keyboard in place on the old studs after installation.

Works fine, but they fail to mention that id you remove the old keyboard you will damage the pastic rivets holding the old one on... more like a fault of asus, but it did work once installed.
