All you have to do now is workout. Timex Group B.V. is one of the best-known American watch companies. Timex's U.S. headquarters are located in Middlebury Connecticut and it has substantial operations in China, the Philippines and India and full scale sales companies in Canada, the UK, France and Mexico. The company began in 1854 as Waterbury Clock in Connecticut's Naugatuck Valley, known during the nineteenth century as the "Switzerland of America." Sister company Waterbury Watch manufactured the first inexpensive mechanical pocket watch in 1880. During World War I, Waterbury began making wristwatches, which had only just become popular, and in 1933 it made history by creating the first Mickey Mouse clock under license from Walt Disney, with Mickey's hands pointing the time.During World War II, Waterbury renamed itself U.S. Time Company. In 1950 the company introduced a wristwatch called the Timex. Over the next three decades, Timex was sold through a series of advertisements which emphasized its durability by putting the watch through "torture tests," such as falling over the Grand Coulee Dam or being strapped to the propeller of an outboard motor, with the slogan "It takes a licking and keeps on ticking." With the help of former Olympic broadcaster, spokesman John Cameron Swayze, sales took off. The company later became Timex Corporation, then Timex Group and, to date, has sold over one billion watches. The company has remained very competitive and the Timex brand continues its dominance through present day. Its primary market remains the United States and Canada, although the Timex brand is sold worldwide due to its ability to capitalize on its strong brand image and reputation for quality. One of the most successful and important features available on many Timex watches is the Indiglo backlight system. Indiglo is a brand name of Indiglo Corporation, solely owned by Timex for licensing purposes. Timex electroluminescent lamps, branded Indiglo, were introduced in 1992 in the Ironman watch line. They were an immediate success. The Indiglo lamp uniformly lights the surface of the Timex’s watch dials in a manner that makes the dial read very easily in many different light settings. In some newer watches the Indiglo backlight only lights up the numbers, rather than the entire LCD display, which is achieved by means of a specialized film that inverts the LCD transmissivity.Today, Timex Group products are manufactured in the Far East and in Switzerland often based on technology that continues to be developed in the United States and in Germany. With a large and varied line of watches, Timex has the style for everyone. From the locker room to the board room, there is a great Timex style time-piece for you.

Great watch for working out
I'm replacing my 2 or 3 year old earlier model of the same watch, yes the band got brittle, cracked and broke. The new band does seem more flexible and likely will last longer. The band is still molded to the watch, as it should be to avoid it getting snagged or caught on clothing. There are some positive software tweaks and you can navigate the functions faster. Main reason for buying this watch is the extra large screen that is easy to read while working out. Was unsure about new "DOT MATRIX" LCD display, but it has proven to be easy to read. I do not use the "tap" screen function it the past during my workouts the screen would get tapped by mistake. I have not found a large, rugged, easy to read watch for the price, if I get 2-3 years again I will be happy... I'm not gentle with this watch.

The best watch for the money!
The best investment for a 50 miler! My Apple watch dies after 23 miles, but this watch was great for my mountain run! Yelled at me to eat and drink with the alarms I set before the run (LOVE THIS!). This helped me to stay accountable of my calories and hydration, especially when I didn’t feel like it. This was definitely worth the money and will being using this watch for all my ultras. I don’t need gps tracking or anything else fancy. Just keeping it simple and back to basics for an ultra is all I need.

Nothing wrong with this watch
Received the watch and just do not understand all the negativity surrounding it. It's almost as if someone wrote a bad review and then a bunch of sheeple decided they need to top the negativity. Some guy said he gave it away. Seriously? The watch may not be the brightest in the world but I have absolutely no problem reading it regardless of the conditions. There's even a contrast setting. User error doesn't warrant a negative review. The watch took me about 5 minutes to set up through trial and error and it is very straight forward. Everything works fine. The color is really cool and it does the same thing all other ironman watches do except it also has the touch screen which is an excellent feature. They even made the watch face slightly larger to accommodate for this feature. Its comfortable and I don't even realize I'm wearing it. The price is incredible as well. Unless I received a completely different watch, don't buy the negativity, buy the watch.

Reading the display under water
The watch looks really nice and the strap feels very comfortable. I bought this mainly for using the lap feature while swimming. It took a while to figure out the features and how they work. With normal out of the water usage, it is great. However, because I use it for swimming, I have a problem with reading the display while underwater. As such, it was difficult for me to tell whether I tap hard enough to increase the lap count possibly due to the dark background, unless I make complete stop, tap, and look to see if the tap registers or I have to tap again. This would not be a problem if the tap is done while running.

Nice watch. Lots of features.
Man, this thing looked great out of the box! I like the size numbers and lettering they chose for the display. It was very easy to set up. There were a few functions it took a bit to figure out, like Eating and Drinking alarms. The configuration buttons are in the same places, but they aren't the usual functions. Instead the buttons take you through dropdown-like menus, like a computer. It's easy to do, but a little time consuming compared to the average programming of a digital watch. It has a tap function so you can trigger timers by tapping or slapping your watch, depending on how hard you set the tap to be. On the lightest setting, I can set it off by flicking my wrist hard enough. The indigo light inverts the display and lights up the numbers and letters. It works really well. It's a really good workout watch if you want to track when you, started, track your warm up time, workout, and cool down, while tracking and regulating your food intake and drink intake. I feel it's a bit overkill to do all that, but that's just not how I train. You can then go back and review all of that. The watch logs the workouts until you manually delete then. But the watch fits well, looks great, and has lots of functions. I 3 starred my review because I really only needed a basic watch with chrono and laps. The tons of other functions clutters up simple use. The screen gets scratched really easy too. I wore it 3 days and just normal wear and tear throughout the day, I got a huge scuff across the middle of the display. I've had a month or so now and it's all kinds of scratched up now.

Solid Buy!
This watch is a terrific value. I use it for running, in particular for a run/walk when needed. Just finished a 100 miler and it was a Champ! Rained for nearly the whole event and no problems with the watch. Water and sweat didn't seem to plug up the alarm like it sometimes does on my Garmin. The watch has two workouts with 8 separate interval settings that, if you set it up correctly, will give you 66 hours of run/walk intervals for each of two workouts - so don't get hung up on only 99 repeats per interval! It is the easiest watch I've ever had when it comes to set up and adjusting settings. One pass through the manual and it all seems pretty intuitive.Nighttime viewing is excellent and although the screen doesn't seem bright (has Indiglo, too), it is actually easy to read in the sunlight. I don't wear sunglasses, so can't say much about how they may affect it.

Dead Watch
I've been using Timex Ironman watches for years. They're basic and simple and get the job done...That is if they're not dead. Just received my new Sleek and it's dead...Won't work at all so I'm guessing that the battery is dead. Must have been sitting a long time in some warehouse. Going to get I new battery put in it tomorrow and am hopeful that's all it is!!!
