The Annotated Hans Christian Andersen

I have Grimms Fairy Tales in this series and cannot recommend them highly enough. They are beautiful hardbacks with embossed slipcovers and each volume contains an extensive introduction. The Andersen is split into five parts: Tales for Children; Tales for Adults; Biographies; Andersen's Readers; and Bibliography.Each story is accompanied on every page by fascinating notes by Maria Tartar and drawings and paintings showcasing the artists that have created illustrations since Andersen first published his Fairy Tales in 1835. Artists include famous names such as W Heath Robinson, Edmund Dulac, Harry Clarke and Arthur Rackham.If you are as fascinated as I am by the fairy stories you grew up with these volumes are for you.

I bought this volume and then immediately ordered her Annotated Brothers Grimm. I’ll buy anything Maria Tatar writes. Her annotations add to the text, I love having the complete works and knowing that they have been compiled by an expert, and the artwork that is included is gorgeous.

Gorgeous book! Came in perfect condition, no bends in the pages or jacket. Colour is as pictured and everything about it is so detailed, I love it. I've got a classic Grimm's fairytales book as well, they look great together.

Llegó súper bien, súper rápido, venía un poquito dobladas las esquinas superiores de un par de páginas pero de verdad que es un libro hermoso, tiene anotaciones y pies de página en cada hoja del libro. Muy tristes los cuentos pero es una maravilla, perfecto para fanaticos y apasionados de la lectura
