Orbit 58643 Brass Impact Sprinkler On Ring Base, 3/4"

If you have a large area to water and sufficient hose water pressure, THIS is the unit for you. I use two of these to water a large horse pasture in the early spring to get grass started before the summer rains. I've tried a dozen (or more) other brands and types - none match these. I have one and only one complaint... the metal base which the water flows through is not stainless steel. Whatever it is, it rusts quickly and badly. The brass sprinkler head is very robust and will last years if not abused (e.g., my horse stepped on one), but the base units have rusted through after only two years. Still - it rates five stars because I have tried SO MANY others that cost more and are not half as good.

Received on time and as described. Installed a 1/2 inch RainBird 25PJDAC sprinkler head and watered my front and back yards. The base has some mass to it and did not move or rotate at any time during the operation of the impact sprinkler. I plan to address the internal corrosion issues that others have expressed by occasionally swabbing / coating the inside of the base with "Fluid Flow," letting it creep, and set up for 24 hrs. prior to putting the gasket and sprinkler head back on. I've had success using this product in other lawn & garden, and vehicle applications. Hopefully, the water flow will not completely erode the film from the wall of the base too easily. So far, I'm happy with my purchase.

Stable base that won’t tip over or wander around with use. We’ve paired ours with impact and gear driven sprinkler heads.No spikes that bend or break. Add a timer and hoses for a sprinkler system that will keep working through the season or the years.

I have two of these and the concept and use is great. It beats a spiked base. Unfortunately the inside of the metal pipe will rust easily if you leave water inside after using it. To make it last for years, just drain the water inside the pipe and don't leave it on the wet grass overnight. Remove the hose and turn it until all the water is out of it and store it out of the wet grass with the opening downward to drain any water. I use a plastic Rain Bird impact sprinkler and its awesome and has lasted several years. Sometimes when the water pressure is at its max, I have to put a brick on it to keep it from moving out of the precise space I have it in. The part that got damaged next was the female thread where you connect your hose. The grooves are off due to my fault after a lot of use and misalignment. You can make a square version of this out of copper or galvanized pipe.

Bought sprinklers that you push into the ground, they would sometimes breakoff the tip or would loosing up and move around. The heads were good but I want a sturdy base and these are great. I have bought three so far.

It's design and material provides an impulse sprinkler with both stablity and ease of movement.

Ordered 3 months ago, and like others, the hose connector fell off after 4 uses. Went to mfg site and ordered warranty replacement (no cost, free shipping). The new item has a much improved connector fitting that should help durability problems.

Good bas,e for impulse sprinkler, replaced a very old one that had rusted out. Only problem is that the sprinkler head is not perfectly vertical, but about 5-10 degrees off, so sprinkler does not cover an even circle.

I paid a great deal of money for an oscillating sprinkler that broke after first use. On close inspection, it turned out the plastic base, the sprinkler body screwed into, was cracked. The sprinkler was excellent when it worked, so I looked for a new base, and this is the one I chose. Now my sprinkler works as good as new, and I don't have to worry about a cheap plastic base breaking.This base is all metal with no cheap plastic connectors. I'll certainly buy it again if I ever need another indestructible sprinkler base.

I saw the reviews, I thought "that can't be right...". It's true. The thing is made from non-stainless steel. Water inside the base will come out rusty when it's been sitting for day. No idea how long this is going to last because it's basically corroding when not in use, but it can't be that long. Otherwise it works fine for using a commercial sprinkler system head with a hose (which is what I do).

Works as expected.

Product misassembled so that the part that the sprinkler is supposed to screw into instead of being upright is leaning at about 10-15 degree angle. Not suitable for rain bird type sprinkler head. Returning to Amazon.
