A highly original and creative cookery and travel book
I found this a fascinating book, with a rich mixture of travelogue, cooking recipes, philosophical musings, poetic writing, and superb photographs - of mouth-watering dishes and of the spectacular scenery associated with them. Driss Mellal writes from his heritage of Berber ancestry and upbringing, describing vividly his childhood and youth in southern Morocco, and the way that that nomadic lifestyle had played out in his training as a chef and subsequently discovering native dishes of many lands as he roams around the Mediterranean. He does not just report on or describe the cuisine of Morocco, Italy, Spain or the south of France, but develops their recipes in his own imaginative and creative ways. And he encourages his readers to do the same. This is a book that will make a superb and delightful gift - but get one for yourself too and revel in it!

Just to read this is a joy and as it only arrived yesterday I haven't yet tried anything, but they do look delicious. I love the traveling around aspect too.
