Q: I'm trying to figure out where this is made and seeing answers that say china, mexico, and afghanistan. explain? im confus.

It is made in Taiwan. Taiwan is a small island south of Japan and east of China. They are generally a bit better on food safety and quality control, compared to China.

Q: Is this big enough to use to make mofongo?

I would say no. It's great for a couple cloves of garlic but wouldn't be big enough for a whole plantain.

Q: I am planning to use this for crushing saffron. Will the rough interior cause some waste or will it come out smoothly with milk or water? Thanks.

Comes out smoothly with water. Would recommend using a rubber knife to rub around the edges to thoroughly mix the I'll and saffron when you try to get it out, but marble is quite smooth and doesn't hold onto anything.

Q: what is this used for?

This can be used for a variety of things. I use it to blend my bulk herbal teas. For instance to make my immunity tea, I will use 2-3 different herbs. I also use it when I burn my charcoal incense.
