works exactly for what its advertised for
I needed to pull the crank bolt off my 2002 wrx and this thing was perfect for the task when set up right, held the crank pully tight, braced against the frame and let me pull the crank pully bolt free, would recommend for this particular repair again and again

Great tool. No need for a helper!
After watching a bunch of YouTube videos, I decided to bite the bullet and replace my timing belt myself. One great tutorial recommended using a breaker bar, resting on the chassis, and turning the engine over to loosen the crank pulley bolt, but this seemed kinda scary to me (and it didn't really provide a workable re-installation procedure) so I bought this $30 tool on Amazon. I realized that the tool is long enough so the end can rest on the chassis, against the work of your torque wrench, making it unnecessary to solicit help from a friend or stranger. Just turn the crank pulley (clockwise) until the holes are in a suitable position, push the tool in, and then use your torque wrench. Great price... hoping I won't be using it again anytime soon, but I'll be happy to lend it to a friend in need ))

Necessary tool for timing belt change on Subaru Outback 2011.
Worked as it should. That crank pulley bolt is really torqued tight in there. Have to make sure that the tool bolts are securely seated in the pulley holes, or they will bend.Shouldn’t have to use it again for another 100,000 miles, or if a friend needs it.Very happy with the purchase. Saved a bunch of cash, by not going to a shop to have the work done.

The YANWEN Crank Pulley Tool for Subaru Works GREAT!!!
I read all of the reviews with people talking about the smaller bolts/pins being too flimsy andbending under stress so I was a little apprehensive as my car, 2009 Subaru Legacy 2.5i non-turbowould use the smaller bolts. When I assembled it and put it on the crank pulley, I found that the handle was long enough for the end to rest on the frame. I made sure that everything was seated and used a breaker bar with a pipe on the end to break the pulley bolt loose, it creaked and groaned and did not want to turn loose so I added more pressure to the breaker bar and it finally turned loose.Afterword the pins/bolts that go through the tool into the pulley showed no signs of damage at all. With its low price and good quality and results I would recommend the Crank Pulley Tool.

Doesn't fit 2011 Subaru Outback 3.6R
I got the tool from amazon and the inner box had been torn open and the bolts were all missing. Somebody had returned it to amazon after they used it and didn't return all the parts. Amazon took it back anyway and sold it to me so now it's my problem. So I bought bolts at the hardware store and tried to bolt it to the crank pulley and the holes in the tool didn't line up with the holes in the crank pulley. So we're up to efme number 2.I decided to modify the tool by drilling holes in both pieces where the bolts should be and went to install it. I didn't know how long the bolts should be and the ones from the hardware store were too long but I didn't know it. They went all the way through the pulley and dug into the block. That actually helped hold the crank as I loosened the nut, but the bolts were mild steel and bent. So when I tried to take them out they were bent and 2 twisted off. The joy just never ends.I got the broken bolts out and the tool worked after I modified it to fit, but between the guy returning the tool without all the parts and ripping amazon/me off, amazon not giving a rats ass that parts were missing and selling it to me anyway, and the manufacture claiming it works on my Subaru when it clearly doesn't, it just turned the whole day to crap. Bottom line, if you have a 2011 Outback 3.6R then get a different tool that will actually fit right out of the box.Ok here is an update. I also needed the tool to remove the idler pulley. Since the bolts were all missing I got some at the auto store. I screwed them into the tool and went to remove the pulley but the bolt spacing is wrong for the idler pulley also so more modifications needed. So the tool is little better than rough stock to make a tool from. But at least it has the hole in the middle, so that's what you get for thirty bucks.

Useful tool
Every mechanic has "their way" to do things that don't require the right tool to do the job, but if you need the right tool to hold the crank pulley while loosening/ tightening the crank bolt... look no further. Beefy construction and adapter plates for use on other models. This tool came in clutch during a timing belt replacement. Recommend.

Did The Job!
I was pleasantly surprised at how sturdy this wrench is. Thick, heavy handle material and high-strength metal bolts. Fit the harmonic balancer of my Subaru perfectly. Held the balancer on removal and install. No signs of fatigue in the wrench afterwards.
