UPDATE!!!...Since I have learned to use this 'rice' better, I have grown into a big fan. I was originally using it as a plain white rice, and as that, it is not great. It is wonderful when you top it with gravies, sauces or add flavorings. I learned that it really is a very satisfying food and a staple to my low carb lifestyle.A suggestion....I rinse the 'rice' well, then toss it in a pan and dry it out. I add a bit of butter, some onion, garlic, spices, flavorings and cook it through! Simple and it is very satisfying.So...I have upgraded my 1 star review to a 5 star review because it truly is a satisfying staple. I apologize for the one star because it was really not based on the product by my inexperience in knowing how to use it! Thank you Palmini for a good, versatile and enjoyable product.I really wanted to love this 'rice' as I am a huge fan of the Palmini 'pasta' but it just didn't cut it. In fact it was almost like eating grated cauliflower than 'rice' I'll definitely be sticking with the konjac rice as it resembles 'rice' more. The consistency and chew is like grated cauliflower. I wish I could return the two I have left but unfortunately there is no refund allowed on this...you can be sure that I won't be buying this again. What a disappointment.

It's a great sub for rice

I've got Type II diabetes, but I am a huge white rice lover! So, my doc says to cut down on rice, pasta, and potatoes. Ugh! So, I gave this a try and, you know, it wasn't bad. It did have the look and feel of rice and with enough flavoring added it could pass for white rice. I always have a sauce that I ladle over my rice and my Thai sauces worked with this. Not perfect but I would do it again. I don't think I could make fried rice with this though!

7/12/2022 update: the buy one get one free 6pk deal i purchased on prime day, is still with a 9/2022 expiration date..5/10/2022 update: the buy one get one free 6pk deal from one of the sellers have an expiration date of 9/2022. no big deal for me, i’ll eat all 12 packs by then but, others may not..i was iffy about trying these heart of palm pastas and put it off for a long time. recently i tried out a Realgood chicken meal that had heart of palm linguine noodles in it and the noodles weren’t bad at all so after some deciding what brand of heart of palm products to get, i chose this brand. Am glad i did, the bags are packed full and there is no nasty strong smell. After rinsing & draining the rice 3 times and drying it out in a large frying pan before adding tbsp of butter and a healthy choice chicken pesto & veggie meal to it, the rice was actually delicious (after initial first taste, you don’t taste the palm anymore) and so much better than cauliflower rice!! i like that this palm of heart rice has a nice dente non-mushy rice texture to it, least the way i made it it did. I was so impress with it that i came on here after dinner and ordered their 6 pack which lucky me just happen to do so when one of the sellers was selling it at a buy one get one free deal so i got 12 packs for the price of 6, making these pretty affordable.. I bought the angel hair ones too but, i haven’t used those yet, don’t expect to not like them if they are super thin like angel hair is..

I originally gave this a one star as I tried all I could to make this taste good. I even tried to make pork fried rice but this dish turned out slimey in texture and was mostly flavorless. However, 2 stars goes to customer service. When hearing about my awful experience they reached out to me and things were sorted out. While I cannot personally reccomend this, I bet there maybe someone out there who would like it.

I have purchased other Palmini products that I loved but the rice is just awful. I don’t understand why the hearts of palm flavor is so much stronger in the rice than other products but no matter how I cooked it or soaked it, it was awful. It was expensive and I’ll have to just toss the rest because I can’t stomach it. The lasagna noodles were great and made a delicious lasagna and I’ve used the angel hair and spaghetti style in multiple dishes and were also great. Not the rice.

I know the price is a little high, but worth every penny! My husband wanted potatoes with chicken I had left slow cooking. I knew oif I made potatoes I could not resist the temptation. I remembered I had ordered this to try so I offered him risotto. We were both surprised with the texture. It worked really well with olive oil, Mediterranean spices, garlic and a touch butter and parmesan cheese to finish. I will keep this in my pantry for sure. As a Caribbean Hispanic, I am rooted to rice.I don't have to feel guilty about eating this. You can't beat the calorie/carb count, the flavor and texture.

The riced hearts of palm are great for low carb eating. Easy to fry up like fried rice and mix with other vegetables.
