Worth every penny!
We purchased the Fisher-Price Precious Planet Projection Mobile when my son was 8 weeks old. We've been using the mobile for almost 2 months now and we still absolutely love it! He loves watching the animals go around while he "talks" to them. The music always soothes him to sleep. In fact, he'll cry when the music turns off, but immediately stops when we turn it back on. The songs are annoying to Mom and Dad, in fact, my husband has commented that listening to the music through the baby monitor helps him drift off to sleep as well. The mobile runs for the full 20 minutes which is great. We use the mobile every night, and our batteries just needed changing after two months. Once the batteries wore down, it would only play for a few minutes. It's nice that there are three noise choices: music, rainforest, and heartbeat. We only use the music since our son loves it so much. He didn't seem impressed by the rainforest and he absolutely disliked the heartbeat. I love the fact that you can turn off the projection, so it only plays music or music and the mobile spins. And when the projection is on, it gives off a nice soft glow. Fisher-Price was smart and staggered the time when things shut off. First, the projection shuts off, then a little bit later the mobile stops spinning, and then a little bit after that the music stops. Since it doesn't shut off abruptly, it doesn't wake our sleeping boy. The mobile attaches securely to the side crib rail without any hassle. Our side crib rail has a curve in it, and it still attaches easily and securely. We don't use the remote very much since its just as easy to walk in the nursery and push the button again. The only time we use the remote is to easily turn the mobile off without having to shut off the switch. The stuffed animals are cute and hold my son's attention. They are nice colors and actually look like the animals they are meant to resemble. Overall, I highly recommend the Fisher-Price Precious Planet Projection Mobile.Pros:-Plays music continuously for 20 minutes-Projection is a nice feature, but it can be turned off to allow for just music and/or music/mobile-Attaches easily and securely to the crib rail (we have it attached to a side rail that has a curve in it with no problems)-Doesn't seem to wear down batteries too badly (finally had to change the batteries after two months)-The stuffed animals are cute-The music isn't annoying, but rather soothingThe only Con I can think of is the heartbeat sound. It's supposed to sound like the mother's heartbeat to soothe the baby as if they were still in the womb. It's a nice idea, especially for younger infants, but the heartbeat is too slow. It's actually abnormally slow, so it doesn't soothe a baby, at least not my baby.

Great option to help baby sleep!
I bought this as a replacement for an old mobile to which we lost the parts after my older child took it apart. I've been extremely impressed with it in the past month. I've turned it on (with the lights) at least once or twice every night, and the batteries are still going strong. The remote is extremely handy; although you need to have line of sight between it and the player. Our baby's crib is still in our bedroom, so that's not a problem. I find it extremely convenient that when she wakes up fussing, I can just turn this on without leaving bed, and wait a few minutes to see if she'll go back to sleep, or if she needs to be fed. Sometimes, I get to enjoy listening to her giggle at it! The volume on the music is also very loud in a good way (it has two settings, but we use the louder one to provide more cover of our own noises).A few drawbacks (and they're minor):There's no easy way to turn it off from the actual mobile. Pressing the button again just resets the timer. The remote does have this option, though. It's only been an issue when I've laid her down and she makes it clear she's not ready for bed, then I have to turn the switch off and back on.The mobile goes into a sleep mode (I'm not sure of the timeframe) and the remote won't work. If I don't plan on turning it on when I put the baby to sleep, I still manually turn it on real quick while I'm getting her changed and use the remote to turn it off again, otherwise I won't be able to use the remote in the middle of the night. The mobile itself is very tall, so just check the clearance for where you plan to install it. We didn't have any problems, but it's probably a good 1.5' above the crib, and the install system doesn't let you move it any lower. It's beneficial to us, because it makes it easier to slide the baby underneath it without a problem.I haven't used it yet without the mobile, but the picture display is very bright on the mobile itself, so I'm pretty confident it will work well on the ceiling above the baby as well.I bought this as an early Christmas present for the baby, but it's really been more of a Christmas present to myself!
