For bug lovers!
This is a fantastic gift for kids interested in bugs...heck adults too. We love it! Unfortunately we had a little incident with the ants when we were putting them in and we must have introduced a bit of bacteria into the habitat. Bad news bears but the company helped us SUPER QUICK. I will definitely order more from this company. I was interested in their frogs too! Highly recommend.

Did not work as expected
The ants only made two small tunnels in the gel and mostly stay on top of the gel. The gel over time molded and looks nasty. The ants are surviving but it's just not what I had expected. I bought another ant farm at the same time as this one but it has sand and the tunnels are much more impressive but you do have to feed/water the ants with the other system that has sand whereas this system uses the gel to feed/water the ants but again they just did not make impressive tunnels throughout the gel, not in my case anyways.

Not Working Like it Should
The ant farm arrived on time and the ants were alive. It’s sturdy. It came with rocks and the seeds to grow the grass in the gel. The seeds are sprouting quickly and it’s easy to assemble and follow the directions. However, the ants are killing each other off and do not dig in the gel as it says. Some of them tried and got stuck/died. They are literally carrying dead bodies off and piling them up. There are no air holes. There is a hole at the top to open and let air in, but the ants crawl right up to it to try to escape. It sort of feels like they are being tortured. It says it provides everything they need, but these ants don’t like the gel.

Only lived a week
A lot of the ants were dead when I got them but that was my fault - i tried to order when it was warm but we got a cold snap so it was what it was. I had about 10 ants survive the trip. 7 survived the first 7 days and after that. They never tunneled and they acted like they were lethargic so I put food in. i know they are supposed to eat the tunnel stuff? But they never did. Mold began to grow in the enclosure due to the food I think, and then they all died. Not sure how things could have been different since they weren't tunneling but , I don't know. The seller was good and did everything right - I screwed it up somehow I'm sure.

Great gift
Made a great gift for kids to watch and learn how ants work together could you imagine if humans were as good as ants ... 🐜

No ants
We waited a week to get this (two stars because it came in within a week, which was earlier than expected) but it came with no ants at all. There weren’t even the tubes that they would’ve been in if it were merely an escaping issue. I’d rather not wait another week + to get the ants. The whole reason I chose this over the other options was because you didn’t have to wait to get the item, send in a voucher, and then wait for the ants. My kids just went outside and made their own ant farms. For free.

Disappointed
Ants never dug any tunnels, it got moldy. Not good

Fun for kids and adults
Got these before quarantine to keep kids busy and boy did it work i saw Reviews saying they died quickly but these ants just won’t die it’s been 3 months and I’m still seeing lots of activity. However they stop tunneling about 3-4 days in
