Q: can an african grey fit in it

Although an African Grey would fit inside this cage, the spacing of the wires, the construction of the cage, and the gauge of the wire all would be inadequate for the African Grey - you need a more sturdy cage than this for that type of larger parrot. This cage is for small birds, like finches, parakeets, lovebirds, parrotlets, cockatiels. I think an African Grey could rip this cage apart if it had a mind to do so.

Q: How much of the 53 inch heighth is cage only?

Don't know where you got the 53" height from. This is the Prevue Hendryx F050 model your question is posted under and it's total height is 60" with the cage itself being 48"H x 37"W x 25" D (front to back); and that leaves 12" for the stand itself with the stand's storage shelf being about 6" above the floor. Very solid and very roomy. I purchased it at $181 and even at the current price I feel it is still a good deal for the asking price. Hope this helps.

23" depth 37"across 47" high. I first bought the slightly smaller cage then upgraded to this one. I have 2 aducockatiels who find this cage big enough to constantly mate in and they now wish to lay their 3rd clutch. So they are very happy. I still have 2 8 months old in with them and is big enough for the 4. It is not the pretiest cage- but great for the birds- every inch is usable space. My birds very active- I put ladders of all kinds running top to bottom in back and love to watch them- up and down all day - run run run!

Yes, it can be removed, however, I wouldn't recommend it because it leaves a gap that could lead to an injured bird. I do not like my birds to walk on grates either so I put a layer of newspaper on top of the grate. The birds have a flat surface to forage on and it makes cleaning the bottom of the cage very easy--just change the newspaper, wrapping up whatever messes the birds have made in it. I have four budgerigars and it takes me about 5 minutes to wipe down their perches and change the newspaper every day.

Love it ,get it

My flight aviary arrived this afternoon ,me and my brother had it together in less then an hour ,easy directions , it was EASY to assemble ,LOVE LOVE LOVE IT it is even more then I thought it would be ,seemed flimsy at first glance . but well building it as we tightened up screws it got more solid ,I shopped around at every pet store in Prince George BC looked online at cages for sale for weeks ,and this truly was best deal ,plus free shipping helped keep costs down MY LOVEBIRDS SEEM SO TINY IN IT ,SO MUCH ROOM FOR THEM .. I guess I could say the bottom tray seems flimsy and doesn't fit snug (seen 63 reviews for this cage ) and every person said that same thing about tray , and I would agree ( I also still bought it because that was only real issue ,going to run a couple bungee cords underneath the tray no biggie and nothing you would see.....so out of 1 to 10 I GIVE THIS FLIGHT CAGE ------- A SCORE OF 9 my birds haven't stopped singing I really do see them happier already.....and bird people know there birds :)

It was quite easy. It is very well made and absolutely gorgeous

I received this cage last Monday. My friend helped me put it together. It was quite easy. It is very well made and absolutely gorgeous. No problem whatsoever. Now my lovebirds are in heaven. I would suggest putting locks on all the doors. My lovebirds found a way to open the door and escape.

Current owners / future customers beware

We received this cage less than one week ago. After setting it up, and being incredibly happy that our birds were happy in this cage - we came home from a nice dinner out to see the bottom of the cage had fallen right out. The metal holding the tray in place gave way. We now have an empty cage and two dead pets. I am returning this cage and want to leave this message to any potential buyers of this cage or owners to ensure the bottom is securely fashioned. We bought this cage so our birds could fly around and be safe from the cat, and after the bottom fell out, well you can figure out what happened. What recourse do we have other than to return this. Thanks for nothing Prevue Pet Products. I'll spare you the pictures.

Great cages

Have bought two of these now and the birds love the extra space.They are also easy to work with and clean with the two large doors.They arrived undamaged and within two days.

It's a great cage but you have to take off the roof to get through a door. Otherwise I am very happy with it.
