Rugged made, best one if you don't need gold plated.
It's actually quite solid, you have seen these other reviews, they're right it's ruggedly built. Use it definitely if it's in a spot where it could get crushed or yanked out, I'm betting it would take a beating.Audio quality - I use it for my budget hifi stereo, I actually ordered a new expensive gold plated one just in case it will improve quality, but running this from my laptop's very high quality DAC (beats my dedicated dac, actually), into my budget hifi system (Aiyima T9 amp, running Sony SSCS5 speakers) - I'm not detecting any loss from this cable vs USB to my Amp which is digital. In fact it sounds a lot better on account of the laptop's dac being way better. So with the build quality, I agree with others who were saying that it will be fine for most uses sound-wise. Given that it doesn't affect my hifi system in a way I can notice, I would say average or lower sound setups are going to be resolving less than this cable is transmitting and not have any drop in sound quality.

Great Splitter with Only a Small Difference in Audio Quality
Works Great! I have not had the volume issues that a lot of other people have mentioned. This is due to me only using it for one device at a time. If you dont have two sources of audio at once then there is no problem. The moment you do however the signal/volume is halved. Mine splits the computer and xbox audio running to my stereo. It sounds pretty much the same except sometimes I notice certain sounds missing from things I have listened to a bunch (music, videos and so on). I think this is due to them using only one left or right channel for each split. This is hardly noticeable to me though. I only notice it once in a while. If you set your computer to mono though it should solve the issue. Even with this little flaw I am still very pleased.

Quality construction with undistorded sound
This Hosa Y-cable is one of the better instances I've come across. I'm a computer/gaming/electronics geek so I always have cables running all over my offices connecting various PCs, gaming systems, and audio sources to each other. The most common problems I see is that, like you see on headphone cables, the 3.5mm stereo plug gets flexed too many times and ends up breaking a connection on the inside.Well, have no fear: I've had this adapter for 3 years now and it hasn't skipped a beat. It is my main go-between my desktop speakers and PS3. I have a lot of confidence in the little thing because I am often plugging and un-plugging it when I need to get sound from my PC to some other speakers. The strain relief has just the right amount of heft that other products struggle to get right. Not too much that the wires just stress somewhere else but enough so it has some effect.Audio quality is good too. Unless you're going for a top-of-the-line audiophile system this will fit your needs nicely. The only thing that could make it better is gold plated contacts but for casually hooking up an audio source to an output I couldn't recommend this more.

Worked exactly as it needed to
I bought this because I was lazy and didn't want to look through a hundred boxes in the garage to find one I'd already bought. I used it to plug my wireless headphones (RCA) into my TV's audio output (3.5mm) The price was right and I knew that it was what I needed, so I bought it. It arrived and it worked perfectly.

UPDATE: April 19, 2016: EXCELLENT For Years, Now Adapting my Echo Dot Output To My Denon Receiver
UPDATE: April 19, 2016:Since I wrote this review 3 years ago I've been using the Hosa Y adapter for various purposes adapting 3.5mm audio to RCA Stereo. It is now connecting my new Echo Dot to my Denon AVR X2200W receiver and it's working perfectly.I'm still very happy with this excellent Y-cable. The original review from 3 years ago is below:I got this for the mini-plug audio-out for my Samsung TV so I could break them out to the RCA connector cable I had run to my previous TV. This was, of course, a much more convenient than running a new cable around behind big heavy wall units to my venerable receiver. This little adapter is well made and so far no indication of noise or bad connection. The mini-plug goes up into the jack on the back of the TV, not a great design as it is working against gravity. But this little cable held well and in over a month, not a glitch. If you need to break-out a mini connector from an iPod, TV or other audio source to older RCA style connectors this is perfect.
