I had a pair of an earlier model but the charging cables developed problems. This one using usb-c seems more reliable

Purchased on 8/26/24. Went to charge 3 days ago and got nothing. Tried the trouble shooting tips to no avail. Just outside of the 30 day return window so I thought I'd open it up to see what may be happening. I'm not an electronics expert but it looks like a fatal component failure. This speaker was never used in the rain or any wet environment in the short period I've owned it. I would stay away from this model\brand. I've had the base model for 8 years without an issue.

I am disappointed in the Oontz Angle 3 Ultra 4th generation by Cambridge Sound Works! I also have a third-generation of the Oontz Angle 3 Ultra, which I purchased in 2019. I love the sound and bass response! Unfortunately it no longer charges through the mini USB port. Before the battery died I compared the sound from the third-generation with the new 4th generation speaker. I connected them directly by wire to my PC rather than Bluetooth.The difference in lower volume of the 4th generation is very noticeable. I increased the volume to the maximum on my PC for each speaker. You can feel the difference in bass response between the 2 speakers when they are sitting on a table. At similar volume settings the third-generation the bass vibrates the table but the 4th generation does not.I have purchased various speakers and radios from Cambridge Sound Works over the last 10 or 15 years. I prefer their heavy bass emphasis. This new 4th generation does not sound like a Cambridge Sound Works speaker!I returned the 4th generation Oontz Angle 3 Ultra.

I did not notice a difference between the oontz angle 3, and the oontz angle 3 ultra. Just a carrying case.It's still good, just not a noticable upgrade.

I bought a set of two Oontz Angle 3 Ultra speakers to use in Wireless Dual Pairing™ mode for stereo sound, but this advertised function does not actually work. When following the procedure to enable this function, it never completes. Cambridge Soundworks says that the speakers may need a firmware upgrade to correct this, yet the speakers are impossible to update. The firmware update tools on their website do not recognize the speakers when connected via USB according to the listed procedure. Cambridge Soundworks says that wired firmware updates should only apply to older hardware revisions and suggested updating the speakers using the Oontz app, although this app has been delisted from the Google Play store, likely because it does not work on current Android devices. I was yet able to sideload the Oontz app on Android and perform a normal installation of the app on iOS. The Oontz app does not detect any speakers even if paired and connected via Bluetooth. I attempted to use this app on four iOS and Android phones and tablets. If you want stereo Bluetooth speakers, buy something other than Cambridge Soundworks. They have shipped a product that does not function as advertised, the firmware cannot actually be updated, the app has been abandoned, and they do not stand by their product. Triple fail. Cambridge Soundworks recommended that I return the speakers. That is exactly what I will be doing.
