I just can’t miss!!!
So I was on the fence for days if I wanted a red dot on m EDC Ruger Max 9, let alone what was the quality of this item… Well let me tell you this unit is sturdy and on point. I just had my pistol’s iron sights dialed in by my local gun smith so I had an excellent starting point. Using my G sight laser trainer I got the dot dead on as much as you can without actually shooting the firearm. Dot is bright and sharp especially for the price and it does work in almost complete darkness. I tried it in several closets and rooms with minimal to no light.I used a dab of blue thread lock even though the screws had some already. I plan to allow the threadlocker to cure for 4 days before I run some rounds through it. I at this point have NO DOUBTS it will hold ZERO and be good to go. If anything changes you will be the first to know. If the review stays 5 stars than I had no problems. I doubt if the open battery will be a problem but time will tell.I usually don’t write reviews before a complete trial but this is a very solid unit that I would recommend to others. I will say it is also correcting my some of my bad shooting habits like not tilting my head and better trigger pull and hand placement. You can see that dot move right before your trigger pull and make the necessary corrections. It is such a nice set up I plan to buy my wife a Max 9 and pair it with this CTS 1550!!! Above is 10 shots with my G-Sight at 10 yards.

Happy With It - Some Unwarranted Criticisms
Easy to install on my PSA Dagger with Docter cut. I wasn't able to mount it directly on the slide because the holes at the bottom didn't quite line up with the nubs at the front of the slide's mounting area, but using the mounting plate that came with the pistol solved that.I guess it's accurate; I was able to zero it in easily, but I'm a terrible shot - I need to work on my flinching because I shoot low no matter what pistol I'm using.Nice and bright.UNWARRANTED CRITICISMS:1) People complaining it's flimsy because it's polymer and not aluminum. Chances are the the entire lower of your gun is polymer, so why is having a polymer sight a problem?2) "Argghh, it stays on too long! The battery will die!" The battery is supposed to be good for 20,000 hours. If you carry it around 20 hours a day - and I bet you don't - the battery will die in 1,000 days. That's about 2-3/4 years. So you shouldn't buy it if you have to spend $5 on a battery and re-zero every 32 months or so?I think some people just like to complain.

Is it off?
Another good product from Crimson Trace. The auto adjust works great. I put a flash light to it and can see the dot dim and get brighter. I cant tell if it turns off. Put the cap on and wait. Go into a dark closet and its still on. haven't been through a battery yet so it's not an issue. Can't figure out if it shuts down or not.

Fell Apart
Update: 6/15/2023. CT Did not refund the money but instead sent me a replacement. First they tried and sent me an dolder model. Not having it. They sent me the correct model after I pointed out the differences. I gave this another chance, but was I wrong. Went shooting with my EDC with the replacement optics today and sure enough, it fell apart again. I guesstimate I had about 1200 rounds with this one in about 4 trips to the range. DO NOT PUT YOUR LIFE ON THE LINE, WITH THIS ONE CUZ YOU JUST DON'T KNOW WHEN IT WILL FAIL YOU. Absolute garbage. Failed the same way. I guess thay expect you to never train with your EDC.[Original Review]I bought this because I saw people using it on their shield plus optics and got some positive reviews. I'm guessing they had not put enough rounds through it or they sure would have experienced what I did based on how the lens seems to have been attached. It's not a surprise the jarring of the recoil on a 9mm or larger caliber had knocked the glass off. Looks as if they only secured it with epoxy or silicon (the adhesive seemed soft to feel)!I was looking for 3 moa with cuts for co-witness for my carry gun. Big big mistake in choosing this! Thought I was getting a decent optic for the price. Wasn't ready to spend 300-500 on optics but I learned my lesson. When your life depends on it (it's my carry gun), do no skimp! I have about 400 rounds through this and the glass flew out. I will never buy a crimson trace again. Sticking to my trijicon, vortex and holosun that's held up on my other pistols with more rounds. Made it clearer than ever how important co-witness is on a carry gun... because crap like this happens. Hopefully CT honors their product and refund me the money I spent.Having said all that, I try to give honest reviews not based on emotion. When it WAS working, the dot was very bright, had sharp edges on the dot, accurate at 25yds (as accurate as you'll get 3 moa at 25 yds... practically covers the 8" target but I was still able to put all rounds on paper), and it held it's zero (until the unfortunate event, lol).Loved that 3 moa was very fast acquisition. However, all that means nothing if the gear fails in as little as a few hundred rounds. This was my carry gun so I did not beat it up. I took it to the range regularly to maintain familiarization. All in all, I only had this optic a few days less than 3 months.
