Fantastic read - everything you never realized you needed to know about pawns
This is a great read - probably written for somebody a little stronger than me (I'm ~1800ish on lichess depending on time control), but I could still get a lot out of it. It's organized intuitively, and the prose is reasonably good for a chess book (and one in translation, I think?, at that). Definitely got me thinking about pawns (and my other pieces!) in a new way.

Improved my play
Plenty of text to read. Useful commentary and case by case discussion of the pawn.

Useful follow-up to Hans Kmoch's "Pawn Power In Chess"
This is a useful follow-up to Hans Kmoch's masterpiece Pawn Power in Chess (Dover Chess). Hickl's book is targeted to the average amateur chess player with individual chapters focused on examples of play featuring the basic pawn structures - hanging pawns, isolated pawns, backward pawns, passed pawns, doubled pawns, weak squares and pawn chains. Also included are three chapters focused on pawn play featuring rooks, knights and bishops, respectively. If you want to improve your positional pawn play, this book will definitely prove helpful.

DIFFICULT TO FOLLOW WHEN THE WRITER GOES INTO PLANNIG MORE THAN 5 MOVES AHEAD
In general, the Power of Pawns has good information which I rate as 4 stars or a B or 3.0 from an academic grading system. However, from a Beginner through intermediate perspective, it is easy to get lost when the writer's examples are thinking from 5 to 14 moves ahead without explaining an understandable move by explanation. So, I rate the book as 3 out of 5 Stars o a C or 2.5 from an academic grading system. I recommend reading this book over and over again throughout your career after playing many other players at all levels of play until you can think or vision up to 14 moves ahead. The good thing with the book it does go more into the pawn structures than most other instructional books. I recommend any book you learn something from. I think the book is a bit on the high side based on my comparison of over 200 other books I purchased since 1980 that are still available at lower prices.

A must for club players and intermediate players.
Great book! Since the classical "The pawn power" by Hans Kmoch I have almost never seen a book that is so well and concisevely written about the structures of pawns in chess. As Philidor said "the pawn is the soul of chess" and the author explains the structures in conjunction with the piece play. The book is a must.

The title says it all
Great book about pawn structure and how it can be applied to overall strategy. Themes include isolated pawns, backward pawns, hanging pawns, pawn chains, and how pieces and pawns work together. I believe this book should be a part of every chess player's library, it has been very helpful to me.
