Product description Four Great Games in One! DEFENDER Defend the planet from ravenous space aliens intent on kidnapping all of the humans under your protection in Defender. SINISTAR Prevent evil from being unleashed and destroying everything in its path in Sinistar. ROBOTRON: 2084 Save the last human family on earth by destroying hordes of marauding mutant robots in Robotron:2084 JOUST Take to the air on your winged bird of prey and dismount your opponents in Joust. .com This title offers four Midway arcade classics for one price. The games are as you remember them: In Joust, you ride a flying ostrich and try to defeat other mounted knights by bumping them from above. Clear the screen of enemies, then move on to faster and tougher enemies. In Robotron, you run around on a playing field attempting to clear the screen of evil enemy Robotrons, all the while trying to save the last human family. Defender has you trying to eliminate all the alien forces in each stage while defending the lives of the humans scattered across the surface. In Sinistar, you battle unseen enemy drones who are building the ultimate evil--the Sinistar. Sinistar can only be stopped by bombs you make out of space crystals.

Gotta love it.
Midway made some of the best of the best. And now you can forever relive them on the GBA. It's true, the game is old, and the console is old. But these games will make you happy.

The Best Retro Bundle
I have most all the retro games currently made for the GBA system. Of those retro ports, this Williams collection is the best. Of the four games offered here, only Sinistar fails to excite. Joust is the best, but Defender & Robotron are very playable. If you're going retro, go here first!

I don't understand the poor reviews. These games are accurate recreations of the original cabinet classics. Any one of these four games would have made an adequate cartridge for the GBA. To have all four on one cart is incredible. Each one is a constant attention drainer. Each game is loyal to the original. These games bring you back to the days of shooting everything on the screen. Great games. Worth the price. Hours of entertainment.

At lEast Joust and Robotron are good......
The main problem with this game pack is the darkness of the Gameboy Advance screen. When I saw that this came with Joust, Robotron, and my favorite Defender (it also comes with Sinstar which I have never liked so my review does not apply to that one), I was ecstatic. Joust is good, but playing on that small screen makes it a little hard to see, but you get used to it. Robotron has the same problems as Joust, but you get used to it. Sadly Defender is the one that just doesn't cut it. It was a dark game in the arcade so you can imagine what it's like on the advance. Even with a light designed to work with the advance it is way too dark. I will keep playing it, but I won't enjoy it as much as I had hoped for.

Flaws aside good retro value!
Okay ... I agree with some reviews here. SINISTAR is a mess - you really can't control your ship too well with it constantly thrusting, ROBOTRON is a lacking in that you can't fire in a direction you are not moving, JOUST fares pretty well but again some control issues, and DEFENDER is hard to see even on the well lit SP screen. But it is nice to see these 80s classics in any form. I spent tons of quarters on these games back then, and they are hard to find now. The Gameboy has the power to do them justice. Shame that the controls are not perfect, but still worth a look!

I love the arcade versions, the GBA version stinks!
This collection is a disaster I'm afraid. I have a real Defender machine in my kitchen and MAME is the only thing I play on my PC, so I know about these things!Defender is a poor re-write, unlike the faithful reproductions (emulation?) in the Namco Museum cart. Defender's movement and "physics" are all wrong - very poor indeed.Robotron is unplayable because there is no way to lock the direction you fire in (ie you can't fire backwards) - Jeff Minter came up with the simple idea of holding down the fire button to lock fire in a certain direction - shame these guys didn't copy the idea.Joust seems like the most faithful reproduction, but maybe that's because I play more Defender. There is still plenty wrong with the Joust game as well :-(Sinistar is too fast to play, but I am not an expert on this game.I am a serious retrogame freak, but I'm going to take this piece of garbage back to the shop!

Anal Defender
After hundreds of years, a man came along named Sigmund Freud who would come up with the only word that most accurately and closely describes these kinds of video games; anal.Defender although cutting edge when it was first released seems prototypical and crude now.Only people who are Gen X, of that age, born between 1965 - 1975 will remember Defender. This video game would seem weird and like a museum artifact to anyone who is under 20.I remember that television ad, a cereal box where you could get a free Defender handheld video game, one of those large clunky ones. That's an anal memory.I don't know why I got this video game. I think I sold it to the pawn shop.
