Does it make a difference?
This kind of thing seems to always divide people but over the years I have placed one of these in my car and achieved the same outcome, this one was no different. You could look on the internet and Youtube but it would only be realistic for your particular application. What I have found is that the response after the install may or not be what you are expecting. It is hard to explain why this is as I am not mechanic or expert in this field. In the past, each time I have swapped for this type of filter the car just behaves as normal but perhaps lacking in a little low down torque compared with the paper filter. You will drive the car as normal for around 400 or more miles and then you will notice the difference. I dont have an exact figure as all cars that I have owned responded differently. The Hyundai Getz for example took a month and over 1000 miles before it got interesting. During this period the torque loss was very noticeable and annoying. Once the 'bedding' in period was over this thing was rapid in terms of low down torque and throttle response. So this filter is for my VW Touran which I do enjoy driving but I wanted a little bit more low down torque. I am not interested in top end power. With more torque the auto box will change up earlier and keep in the high gears for longer. This all means that fuel consumption gets better. This is what I wanted it for.The car is a 1.4 Tsi and now on the motorway in gear 7 you can feel that the car has more ability to accelerate or keep the same speeds over the sleep inclines. So for me this is a good change but you need to be patient. Perhaps the delay in the engine response could be due to the ecu taking time to adjust but, again, I have no scientific evidence except how I feel when I drive it.
