I'm pleasantly surprised by this base coat. Polish stays on really well and the nitrocellulose free formula seems gentler on my nails than normal base coats. It takes a little while to dry completely because of the water base but the tradeoff is worth it.

It's really bad. You applied two coats. Then nail polish. Dry. And what next? Right, it's completely gone from nails. I did that before sleep. Morning time cooking breakfast and my fresh manicure gone!!!! What??? Want money back I asked for return. They promise and nothing doing

I'm pleasantly surprised by Mavala's Barrier Base Coat. It's performance as a base coat is mixed. But the bottom line for me is: it helps prevent drying. Since using it I've had no surprises when I remove my polish... no new peelies, no new dry spots. That said, this product is not a stand-alone fix. I do many other things to prevent dryness. Rather, it's the icing on the cake. So here's its performance mix: What it does. It does indeed help prevent drying It prevents staining. It prevents polish from getting under, and discoloring, my peelies. What it doesn't do. It doesn't prevent chipping. My manis don't last any longer with it. I doesn't strengthen my nails (the product description claims it will strengthen them) It isn't a stand-alone nail moisturizer. You can't count on this for all your nail's moisturizing needs. Initially I balked at the price. But it's lasting longer than any other base coat I've used you only need the thinnest layer. I wipe the brush off on the bottle's neck several times before applying to my nails. I have a quick suggestion for application: I let it dry 100% before continuing with my mani. If I don't, each subsequent layer of polish will take much longer than usual to dry.

For the last few years, I have had splitting fingernails. Nothing worked except taking a vitamin K supplement. It still can be a problem. so when I say the Mavala Base Coat, I had to try it. I have used Mavala nail polish for over 5 years with excellent results. So far the Base Coat for sensitive, delicate and dry nails is really working. My nails are not splitting.

Finally a base coat that adheres to the nail polish to form a non chipping barrier. My nail polish will stay on for a week with no chipping. I also use the Mavala topcoat, along with Sech Vite for quick drying. Love, Love this product!

Works well

Marvala helped my nails stay healthy and hold polish which I am very happy for. I did have problem getting it off my nails when I removed the polish. It seems my fingernail polish remover doesn’t remove it very well as it more like acrylic sealer or Elmers Glue in consistency. After removing my polish I ended up soaking the Marvala basecoat in water and scraping it off. Maybe I need a different kind of polish remover. The kind of remover I use has acetone, but it’s for strengthening nails.
