Great clay: Waxy with high hold. Good texture for modern messy look
Fantastic, best clay I've found. I do a messy texturized middle part, and have coarse, dry hair that naturally poofs out. This clay provides a flexible but strong hold that doesn't harden much. It's strong enough to straighten out and de-poof my frizzy hair. The clay and wax can add a ton of texture, and makes roughing up hair to define waves and curls for a messy look easy. Very matte finish. I found adding a little hair oil or leave in condition before applying it makes application and styling easier.I tried Hanz's Claymation, Kevin murphy's rough rider, the target's goodfellow texturizing fiber, & a bunch american crew/drugstore brands over the years. This is just about the best at everything, Great hold and texture, super matte without too many flyaways. Application and washout are rough but that's usual with these high hold waxy clays I've found. This definitely has to be applied to damp hair or it's too sticky. Letting shampoo sit for a a minute or 2 to after lathering makes washout easy enough.I'd still like to try some of shear revival's other products, but it's honestly hard to think they'd be much better for what a want.

Good scent, easy to use. Hold could be better.
Smell is good, function was good. Hold, however, was a little lacking as I found it never seemed to last the full day. By the time the end of the day came, my hair would look much more flat than in the morning or afternoon.

pretty good
This is what I have been looking for.In the bottle it's very hard and needs to be gouged out. Texture feels almost waxy and will need to be softened between your hands.Issue is that my hair is long enough that it needs a good amount of product to keep it in place, but I don't like how greasy it can look with other products. This product will still give your hair some shine, but it looks pretty natural.

Stiff Pliability
Like a pliable, stiff hold that’s free of shine and remains workable throughout the day? Get this stuff busy between your palms to emulsify before styling your hair and you’re all set.Good as a standalone or paired with this brand’s salt spray for added volume.

Worst Hair Clay I Have ever used!!!
I would give this 0 stars if I could. This is by far the worst hair “clay” I have ever used in my life. It looses hold in less than 30 minutes, has no volume that you can build in to the hair and it is a complete abysmal experience just scooping the rock like consistency out of the jar. I had high hopes for this but it was terrible. Taking it out of the jar feels like a sad chore, once applied you get the initial shape/hold that you expect from soemthing this pricey but it quickly goes away in less than 15 minutes. I usually do a nice side part which this thing couldn’t hold. Good luck trying any other hairstyle that requires any type of volume. 0/5 stars.

Tough to scoop.
Batch I received must have been old? Tough to scoop from jar with fingers. Does not apply well onto hair. Finish style is okay, but user experience not so.

Terrible product and a waste of my money
Terrible smell medium hold and the formula is like a brick with tiny particles even pet's and Pedro's clay is better !!

Nice matte hold, but wasn't wild about the scent.
I was excited to try this clay product, as I wanted something to give my hair a natural matte finish but still provide good fiber pomade style hold.First off, I loved the American Psycho-inspired label design and the presentation of the jar is just so nice and masculine looking. And the good thing is that it works pretty much as advertised. Some people have complained that it's hard to work through your hair - I suggest vigorously rubbing a dime sized amount between your palms to heat it up, or even use your hair dryer and aim it at your palm at low heat to loosen it up a bit. (Just don't burn your hand!)If I apply to damp hair, I can immediately feel it provide a grippy texture but without feeling sticky. Some water based clay pomades will "lock in" the damp hair look and look more like a grease pomade if you do this, but with this product I found my hair continued to dry with a natural matte look which was great. However, I think because I have quite thick hair I may need to still apply just a minor amount of grooming cream or something with just a hint of sheen to enhance the separation, because I did find at times that it just made my hair look overly dry and puffy if that makes sense. I struggle with finding a good balance because I am not a fan of the greasy pomade look but I think just a hint of sheen can make hair look healthy and enhance separation when combing.Overall I really like this but I might try Shear Revival's paste next to see if it gives a little more more of a balance in my hair. One other thing I wasn't wild about was the scent. I've seen people rave about it, but time it just smelled like they mixed some lavendar essential oil into the clay. I love lavender, but I prefer it in my diffusers or candles - in a men's hair product it just seemed a little bit of an odd choice.
