Approximately 1/4” in diameter and 1/16” thick. There is a concave shape to the wafer so they are not flat.

I would say Yes, they are large wafers. Measuring at just over 1/2 inch in diameter.

Would this cause algae growth in my tank?

I never had a problem because their are tiny and the bottom feeders eat them Quickly. My snails live them.
