You are crazy if you don't buy this... don't ever buy cartridges again.
I have a cheap printer and if I bought the manufacturers standard ink I would have to pay almost as much for black XL as I paid for my printer. I watched a youtube video on how to fill ink cartridges and will NEVER buy cartridges again. This stuff is amazing. Make sure to turn your cartridge upside down and insert the needle when filling... I did it the opposite way on my first try and had ink on my hands and everywhere... why pay more when you can fill your own for less? And, turning the cartridge upside down to fill it is so clean you don't even have to do it over newspaper or wear gloves. My printer light goes on even after filling to tell me the cartridge is low but if you read your printer instructions there is a way to override that. My printer shows a yellow light instead of green but who cares? IT prints beautifully and dark black.

A Winner - Practice Makes Perfect
Years ago, I tried refilling my own inkjet cartridges with disastrous results. Was messy and didn't even work. Here I am many years later and it is still messy but this time it works the first time and works extremely well. Saved myself $18 on a new cartridge which would probably not have lasted long. Now, I just got to learn the proper techniques of working with syringes. Keep the needle upward and insert it into the cartridge and not the other way around. Only when have you correctly inserted the needle then you turn things around and let gravity and a little pressure make refilling a lot easier and neater.Otherwise, great stuff. Only more practice will make the next refill perfect.

Money saving but be prepared for a small mess.
I have ordered now 4 of these packages for my business. I print out labels for mailings probably 100 plus each month. I was going through 1 $40 cartridge per month until I bought this kit. The online videos are kinda tough to get through but if you are lucky enough to fill the sponge in the right place, patient enough to wait for the ink to settle in the tank (trying not to overfill) a little trial and error and I get about 1 year out of every box or close to 1000 light printed copies w/o very dark areas. Not suitable to print pics.... The dye doesent seem to run freely enough though to print more than 5 pages at a time but for labels one at a time it really saves me a ton of money. Filling the cartridges can be messy so make sure to wear gloves and put a rag or some paper down. But as I said the savings are enormous!

Works Like a Charm
I took a chance, trying to save some money as a small business owner, and I'm very glad I did! I just refilled for the first time after reading the reviews here and watching 2 videos for tips. It was very simple, not that messy, and I just printed out a test page where the ink worked perfectly. All I did was removed the label and stick the tip of the ink bottle in the center hole of my hp63 black cartridge (i did this keeping the ink upright and turning the cartridge upside down) then flipped it over and gave 7 slight squeezes. (about a third of one of the bottles) I cleaned up the minimal drops of ink and cleaned the backside of the cartridge. I only got a few drops on my fingers (should have worn gloves but no big deal at all). I installed the cartridge back into printer. No error message displayed. I ran a test print and booooyahh! We're in business! Will never buy OEM again!

less expensive than unicorn blood; overwhelmingly less expensive than HP replacement cartridges
HP replacement cartridges should probably be collected and held in a heavily-guarded reserve vault, and then used as the basis for the formation of a new currency, to challenge both the petrodollar and Bitcoin. But speaking more seriously, if you happen not to be a billionaire plutocrat, these accordion refill containers (albeit potentially messy if not handled with excruciating care) are a lifesaver for those of us who had been contemplating a religious vow of electronic printing abnegation. Anyway, they worked for me. ☺
