What I was surprised with is though they are AA batteries, they last so much longtime than the rechargeable batteries in the newer Arlo cameras.

Great for those who like rechargeable battery and can install in any place.

After reading all the reviews and considering other systems carefully, I opted to purchase Arlo cameras. I was somewhat wary of what I'd discover with respect to battery life because of all the reviewers unhappy with the longevity of the batteries. My priorities were to select a wireless system that adequately captured movement and notified us as quickly as possible via our smartphones.I've waited several months to review the product so I could include comments about battery life.The five-star rating is based on what I expected from the system and how it's delivered. The battery life has not been an issue in the four months I've had the system running. In fact, the battery life indicator still shows nearly a full charge. There is no percentage indicator, but based on the graphic battery I'd guess there is still 85-90% battery life remaining. I don't have experience with how the batteries ultimately fail, but if they tail off slowly I would expect them to last several more months.The installation and set-up are simple, and the phone app works great. Aiming the cameras is east to do, and setting up the preferences for each camera, including how long the camera will record once it detects motion is relatively simple. Setting the length of the recording time for each camera once motion is detected was a bit clunky to find, but it's there. Some reviewers have complained about difficulty setting the sensitivity of the motion detectors, but that was also a simple process that took two or three trial runs to make sure inconsequential movements were ignored, e.g., bugs and leaves blowing through the sensitivity zone, while desired movement triggered a recording. Receiving notices of triggered recordings happens very quickly on our phones, and the video quality is quite good.My only concern from the beginning has been that the cameras are magnet-mounted and easy to remove. The good news, I suppose, is there would be a video of the thief if one chose to remove it. Our pest control technician knocked one of the cameras off its mount and it tumbled onto a deck chair and onto the ground as he was brushing away spider webs from the corner it's mounted in. The video shows him knocking it off, picking it up, and then putting it back on the mount, upside down, but working perfectly.One recommendation I'd make is to purchase a set of the covers designed for these cameras. Not only does it give you the option of changing the color of the camera (and perhaps make it blend in better with your mounting location), but I think it contributed to breaking the impact of the fall when our camera was knocked off the wall.

Motion detection not consistent. Saved video disappears right after viewing.Great picture. Good field of view. Easy to set up and use
