This has been perfect on my limited space in the kitchen. My microwave fits perfectly under it and I kept another smaller shelf on top of it to hold more kitchen items. The hooks on the sides are also nice to hold smaller towels or spoons and such. I doubt it could hold any item as heavy as a microwave, but could hold lighter stuff like a sandwich maker or a kettle, etc.
