Airhead Orb, Towable Tube Rope Performance Ball, Multiple Color Options Available

The concept is lovely. My kids love to innertube and they’re young so they may complaint is that with the rope sitting low in the water splashes in their face. It also drags in the water and pedes nice swinging turns over the week. Using this orb it kept the rope high and seems quite durable a rope and connected easily as it should. The problem is thar after blowing it up under normal circumstances, it did not hold air. Maybe 15 minutes. I’m in the process of trying to return it. It doesn’t have a woven cover over it like most towables usually have. It is just a plastic fabric welded together. I think I would buy the covered more durable kind next time. For the record, it did not hold air immediately after it was blown up, prior to using it. Never overinflated, etc. The valve seemed fine so it must be a leak somewhere in the seams, and at the lower price point for similar products I’m not terribly surprised, just kinda bummed out. I thought I would take a chance it it was a loss. Usually Airhead stuff is good. Lots of their products Over the years in my garage.

Amazing! Price point was what sold me. We thought we’d give it whirl. And let me tell you we had a 9 year old who was ready to pull the pin this year on tubing. Was tired of our new tube dive bombing into the water when we would let off the throttle. We hoped on Amazon and threw this orb in the cart. Pressed buy. Orb arrived two days early. Blew it up and it’s working exactly as it should. Made one little boy a very happy tuber!

We tow a tube behind a fishing boat and this ball was a game changer. Take offs are faster, we get an overall higher top speed and the tube is now easy to swing left and right out the waves. Since the rope is also higher, the tube attachment point drags less in the water and this prevent water from splashing into the kid's face. This ball is AWESOME. Kids love it.

Worked ok for a couple tows until the knots began to fray. Used for less than 2 weeks before the ball was loose from its intended location and now I'm left with a frayed ripe to tow with. Had to cut the ball off... Also caused excessive spray for the riders and a less than ideal predictability for the driver as to where the tube would go. This was caused by the orb ball being caught up in the wake behind the boat.

I purchased this product to help prevent my tube from submarining since I do not have a tow bar on my boat and use the d-rings on my transom. It doesn't necessarily keep the line out of the water as advertised. This could be as a result of my personal setup, but it is the reason for my two stars. I don't see a reason to purchase this product if you have an arch or a proper tow bar that starts the tow line above the transom.
