Fun build!
The media could not be loaded. I had a great time with this kit. It was fairly easy to solder (no surface mount components) but took some skill to get all of the LEDs lined up nicely. I wrapped some opaque plastic around mine in the video to experiment with effects. Very much worth the money.

My first step into soldering
I was looking for a basic practice kit to practice soldering with, but that it wouldn't be a little doodad, this will sit in our shop lobby. This matches my wants with the number of joints you have to solder. There was also a decent practice with through-hole spots to work with. Issue one I had was the instructions left out a part on the third grid of LEDs needed the middle two posts trimmed to fit into the controller board. Second was the choice of wire shipped with the kit, I split it in half trying to untie it. It breaks with tiniest bends. a slightly thicker gauge would be better for a beginner kit.Overall, my coworkers and I like it. It didn't take forever to assemble and event practice.

Excellent value. Take your time it's not a difficult project
I don't know how this thing gets multiple colors out of an LED with only two pins but it does and this cube is excellent none of the steps are too difficult this takes a little patience and attention to detail you will be pleasantly surprised and rewarded with him awesome RGB 4x4x4 cube for about one quarter to work a normal RGB cube would take for about 1/4 of the price as well. Will definitely buy from this seller again. There's a link to the instructions in the listing by the way folks.

Cannot print the instruction manual
I bought this kit a long time ago and am just getting around to putting it together. I downloaded the manual and to my surprise it is LOCKED from printing. Why in the world would you not allow your customers the ability to print the manual? My computer and my solder bench are in 2 different locations in my house. I would like the ability to refer back to the pictures often. If you are not going to included a printed version then at least let us print the one we can get. If the purchase was more recent this thing would be on its way back to amazon.

Patience is the key.
Challenging but rewarded with a attention getting device. Instructions were above average for a chinese translation, but I learned some tricks through trying different assembly methods. Looking at the bottom of the LED, make sure the leads are horizontal to each other with the anode(shorter) to the left of the cathode(longer). Bend the anode up right at the LED body. Use a needle nose pliers and hold the cathode such that the width of the pliers is between the LED body and the widened tab on the cathode. Bend the cathode over the needle nose pliers so it is horizontal and forms a 90 degree angle with the bent anode. I only added one LED to the acrylic jig at a time, soldering each anode to the previous LED. I would adjust the cathodes so they all were parallel to the jig before removing each row of four LEDs from the jig. After all four rows of four LEDs with anodes soldered, I would put all four rows in the jig and solder the cathodes together. I placed the first 4x4 grid where two of the leads touch the bottom of the STC chip. I soldered the two inner cathodes from the "top" side of the board with only the IR sensor. This determined the height for the other 4x4 LEDs. A third hand helper device was used to position each of the other three 4x4 LEDs.

Colors aren’t working.
Kits done all the led’s work. But the animations aren’t working properly reds are weak on most samples.

Fun kit!
Fun kit to build. Definitely not for your 1st project, more like 3rd. Once you feel more comfortable with your soldering skills this will be a breeze Also the visual aspect of it is very rewarding. This thing sits at my desk and everyone wants me to build them one at work lol😅

Neat idea, didn't turn out so well though
Bought this for my 12 year old son and he has a very basic knowledge of soldering. When it came in the mail, he jumped on it and started soldering it together. When he was "finished", it didn't work. I think he over-soldered stuff. I don't recommended for beginners unless you are there to supervise or your kid will actually read the instructions. It should be easy but I think he just got excited and screwed it all up.

Test your LEDs!
This was a really fun project to do, but I can't stress enough to test each LED with a volt meter. There were several in my package which were dead. They do send extras, but in my case not enough to complete the project. Thankfully I had a few lying around from previous orders to complete it.
