It is what it is. Works well for the price. Easy to store.
Reviewing Adjustable Toast Slicer/ Cutting Guide for Homemade Bread, Plastic Bread Slicer Loaf...If you're a bread machine addict like I am but don't have the money to spend or don't want another hard-to-store piece of kitchen equipment, you may love this bread slicer as I do.Easy to assemble - 4 pieces snap or slide together. Easy-peasy. Its diminutive size makes it unusable for large loaves. For smaller to medium loaves you can cut the loaf in half & take it from there. For freshly baked, warm bread, use a serrated knife (carefully wipe the blade between slices). For cooled bread, I've found an electric knife works best. What I really like about this product is that it collapses easily & I can store it in a drawer. My kitchen was built in the 1920s so is small with limited storage space. It's a little flimsy so don't get too aggressive with it (but that also makes it easy to break down. Also, the price. Can't beat that with a stick! It's an easy-to-use/clean piece of bread-making equipment if you only need to cut small-ish loaves.

creates even slices, but not a good design for the bottom
I started making homemade bread for my family. I was excited to find this slicer to make my bread better for sandwiches. I loved it at first and was excited about my results. I also loved that it comes apart for easy storage between uses. However, after only a few uses I noticed the plastic on the bottom is getting cut up - why is the bottom not a cutting board style plastic since it is literally being used to cut on top of?This product will not last very long at this rate, and not being able to cut through the bread all the way creates uneven slices, and it's inconvenient. So, take that into account when looking for a slicer.

It works well
It works perfectly fine. I have no complaints. It's not the sturdiest thing but I have no issues.

Not ideal but gets the job done
My husband and I have recently started making fresh bread at home and I was looking for a bread slicer. $6 is exactly what you get. 4 pieces of plastic that snap in place and may or may not hold your bread long enough for you to cut even slices. It does work, but the slicing walls aren’t sturdy enough and move, the “back board” also moved apart from the slicing walls creating an issue. When in doubt go for the higher quality one.

Home made bread slicer
It is too short for a full size loaf but I sliced 1/2 at a time and it did fine. The plastic is. flimsy but for a couple dollars that is what I expected. It does fold up for easy storage

Whoa, don't compare apples and oranges
This cannot be compared with rigid bamboo non-collapsible full-loaf slicing guards. Nor can its price. If you bake your own bread and want to slice as needed, and not the whole loaf all at once, this unit is excellent. Not only can you do the job quite well with it, but takes up little room in the cabinet whether you disassemble it each time or leave it assembled and those were my only criteria which is why I'm pointing out it's suitability for specifically that.I do use a bread machine, but only for the dough cycle because I strongly prefer traditional size and shape loaves without any paddle holes in the middle of them. (It's very little extra trouble and super worth it.)Operationally, this unit works very well with a serrated bread knife, sawing back and forth evenly and gently, letting the knife rather than pressure slice the bread. When you get to the bottom, tilt your knife blade downward and scrape rather than cut the final division. Also, the slat openings are big enough so that you should rest your knife blade against one side or the other throughout the whole slice. Doing that, I get perfectly even, straight slices with no waves in them. I do remove each slice, cutting them one at a time. But this gives me solid control with no shifting. As for needing three hands, I position my thumb over one slat, my forefinger over the bread loaf and the rest of my fingers over the opposite side slat, and just hold everything steady.I personally love this little unit and as long as you don't treat it roughly, it should hold up fine. Another tip, my bread keeps extremely fresh, unwrapped, in a "Lock & Lock" container which is pretty darned airtight. Way more fresh than in any plastic bag I ever tried including those you buy. It actually retains the smell of a freshly-baked loaf and does not seem to mold any faster either.

Keeps coming apart while trying to slice bread
Using this is very frustrating because the pieces come apart while slicing the bread. They also wobble and the slices don't come out even.

I got what I expected
The item does the job but is very cheap. You have to basically hold it together while you cut but overall for the money I’m satisfied and glad I have it. Easy to store away

Disappointed
This product was very disappointing. I make me own bread, but this slicer did not help me to cut an even slice. I did glue all the parts together, but it still collapsed. A waste of money
