Anna and Otis Paperback – Picture Book, 11 July 2019

Awarding-winning illustrator's picture book does not disappoint! A must have book.

I feel that we're in a new golden age of picture books. This book is definitely up there with the best of the year.The story and illustrations are wonderful - a little girl called Anna and her pet snake Otis have fabulous adventures in her home and garden. After a while, Anna wants to take Otis into town with her. However, nobody else understands how friendly and sociable her snake is. Everyone, including her postman is afraid of her snake on principle. (Just like my own reaction when confronted with pet snakes in the open; I back away slowly!)Anna perseveres and thanks to a couple of brave shopkeepers (and the now rejected and anxious Otis also being brave of course), Otis soon proves to be a very popular visitor whenever he comes to town with Anna.Long may Anna and Otis' adventures continue!

Beautiful and engaging story full of heart and lovely details. The characters are adorable and their friendship is very inspiring!

This is a brilliant brilliant book from an extraordinary author-illustrator. You can instantly tell it's made by someone who has really observed children and thought about what matters to them and how they experience the world. It's funny, moving and beautiful.
