works well, held up to good use
I was a little concerned about cheap gears after reading reviews. Thus, I paid a small premium for the OEM part and glad I did. With a few months of weekly use, there have been no problems. (I hope writing this review does not jinx me. 😁) Note that the replacement process is pretty straightforward with online resources including a good Youtube video. (Sorry that I do not have the links handy.) I did not have one of the punch sizes but a screw held in needle nose pliers worked well.

The gear works, plus cleaning tip
Used this to replace a broken gear on my Kitchenaide Artisan mixer. I did this repair project together with my daughter who broke the mixer (we bake a lot together). The gear fit perfectly and months later the mixer is working flawlessly. I used as close to OEM food safe grease as I could find on Amazon. One cleaning tip I can share. The mixer is white and over 20 years old and has some staining on the Artisan bname band from old grease leakage, and various spots on other areas of the paint. I used automotive carburator cleaner and it easily removed the old grease stains and some other marks from the white paint, now it looks like new. I think acetone would also have worked but acetone could damage plastic and rubber whereas carb cleaner should not.

Factory part for a factory replacement experience
The part is the correct factory replacement for the Artisan series of KitchenAid mixers. Do double check our model number (under the mixer base) before purchasing. For me, replacement is "easy" as I have tools and a shed and grew up on a farm. You will need a hammer, punch(es) for removing some retention pins, screw driver, gloves if you don't like to get grease on your hands, and a place to work. You will also need replacement grease and a gasket seal since you are going to be pulling apart nearly all the gears to get at this one. Well, you could reuse the current grease but why? You are in there so you just as well replace the grease, eh, not to mention someplace in that grease are bits of the sheared off gear.A roll of automotive grease/oil wipe towels as well along with degreaser. Lots and lots of industrial strength degreaser. You can do this on the kitchen table if you have a sheet to lay it on and I suggest a sheet of cardboard as some effective use of the hammer is necessary. This is a medium difficulty project. There are several very good videos on the internet if you want to check it out before committing to the project.I have just one question for the engineers. Why plastic? Was metal just too expensive?

Fits 2022 Kitchenaid Artisan
Perfect replacement, it looks like its an actual Whirlpool replacement part. This gear is designed to fail under extreme load so other more expensive parts don't. It only took 1 year for the original gear to fail so after replacing the worn gear with this one, I purchased two more to have on hand for future replacements.

OEM part for K45SS mixer
Fast shipping and OEM part. Used this instead of the Chinese knockoff since although not difficult to replace it requires delving into the internals(which are remarkably well engineered, constructed and straightforward to access) and regreasing which is recommended. I use mixer mainly to mix pasta dough which puts the fiber gear to test so it's well worth it. Surprisingly the original black fiber gear was in remarkably good condition when replaced. I expect this one to provide years of service too.

Perfect fit
Replaced a busted gear in an old KitchenAid stand mixer. Piece fits perfectly, and with this and a new glob of grease, it's now running perfectly fine. This also doesn't seem to have the weird slipping issue on some 3rd party replacement gears.

Be ready for a little work, but it's pretty straightforward to replace.
I bought a used Kitchen-Aid stand mixer that the motor ran on, but it didn't move. I knew it had to be this gear. I recommend this one as some of the other aftermarket ones are cheap rip-offs.
