Zanheadgear® Half Mask Neoprene Black

What I like: I used this mask for skiing several days in temperatures around and below zero F. It was so great for keeping my face warm, even if the mask became moist. I’m so impressed with the small breathing holes around the mouth and by the neoprene - it made for a much much more comfortable experience than any other ski mask I’ve tried. I never felt like I couldn’t get a good breath, the air I was breathing still felt fresh and cool, but my face stayed warm! Despite the moisture that inevitably ends up on my mask, it didn’t become less warm or more uncomfortable. I’m surprised that there aren’t more variations of neoprene ski masks - it’s just so much better than anything else I’ve tried. What isn’t so great: I’m a woman with an average to large head size. This face mask bordered on being too large for me. It’s still functional for me but it might not be for some people. I also still experienced goggle fogging, but I am a mouth breather, I’m assuming it would be better for nose breathers. I also assume it might not be an issue if the mask were to fit snug on me.

There are many pro's and con's with this product. Overall: The product is very good for it's money. It's very cheap, it WILL protect you from the cold, the coldest I have tried it was around 20F, not sure about colder weather or in Celsius. I do wear glasses, and sometimes, the mask does feel uncomfortable. However, I rather feel little bit uncomfortable than being very cold. Here are my pro's and con's. Pro's: - CHEAP and DURABLE - VALUE FOR YOUR BUCK - KEEPS YOUR FACE WARM DURING THE WINDY/COLD weather - IT CAN BE ADJUSTED TO YOUR FACE LENGTH ON THE BACK - THE DESIGN FITS MY FACE VERY GOOD, but can be some discomfort at some times. CONS - Only the discomfort at some times.

I purchased this item for use when riding a bike in cold weather. Temps below the mid 30s seem to make my face feel a bit wind burned after a long ride. The item shipped quickly and was packaged sufficiently. The mask is well made, no quality concerns there, but it is a bit too small for me to properly wear. I had to make it quite tight to get even the slightest amount of Velcro to adhere. The Velcro held nicely, having a strong grip. As long as I helod my head upright and straight, it was not too bad. Once on the bike, I had to tilt my head back to see the road and that's where it's smaller size affects it's use. The Velcro held fine, but the mask tightened even more than before, causing it to push my nose in. This restricted my breathing to the point that it was just not comfortable. Additionally, it tends to fog my glasses. The mask is of good quality and the Velcro holds tight. It provides good protection from the wind and cold. For normal use I'm sure it would be fine but for riding a bicycle, you may want to find something else. Maybe I just have a big head, maybe it's made a bit smaller than the average US consumer. Overall it's a good mask that just didn't work for what I intended to use it for.

I modified mine, the nosehole was not wide enough and i cut it further, and it works fine. I wear glasses and some of the exhaled hot air from my nose goes up and fogs my glasses and this is sort of an issue that I wish didn't exist. I wear a lot of gear on my face and the area that runs across the top is trimmed, and it contacts the upper bridge of my nose and does apply a little bit of pressure (the pressure is aided by my large protective/proscription eye wear and other gear) and it gets a bit uncomfortable/painful for a full days work. Thankfully the mask itself does very well with the moisture that i breath out. The mask does not get cold on my skin in sub zero degrees Fahrenheit, though note that if you wear this over a balaclava or any type of cloth, even if that cloth is down at your chin and not in proximity of your nose or mouth, the cloth will collect moisture, resulting in a cold face upon removing the mask. Wearing this item under everything, or over everything, both have advantages and disadvantages, but overall I will continue to use this product unless I stumble across something that can do what it does and better.

This item 'imho' is deliberately made 'way too small in the back where it Velcro's together' so that you have to buy the extension piece they sell for another $8 to make it fit even a small adult's head. What a scam! Don't waste your money on it. The front fits fine and it 'may' fit an extremely small head perhaps a young child, but definitely not an adult, even with a small head. The company if they have any credibility should advertise it as a child's mask or give a circumference measurement to take out any guess work. There is even a piece of cardboard in its packaging that says, "Still too small? Try our neoprene extension piece". Hey Zan headgear, just make the thing the right size to begin with!

I got this item for my daily commute, we had a sudden drop in temperature the day I got it but it worked perfectly! the holes are small enough not to freeze your face but you can still breathe perfectly! My only issue is that it's a little awkward to wear with a smaller head, you still can but it's a little off. Great product!

a life saver on cold windy day on the ice

Appears well made BUT... I have Average to smaller male head. Have to pull it tight to wrap and attach velcro behind head. They also have a tightly sewn hem around the edges so it will not "stretch" comfortably with the rest of the neo fabric over your face, cheeks and nose. Putting tighter than comfortable on these areas. Others I have owned do not have this sewn edge and I went back to using them even though they are getting worn down.

Tengo problemas de sinusitis por lo que compré esta máscara para poder correr en las mañanas con frío sin tener que estar teniendo problemas con el aire frío, me ha funcionado a la perfección, el material es bueno y creo que es un precio justo. He leído en otros comentarios que si eres muy cabezón no te queda, en mi caso me considero de cabeza normal y me queda de maravilla; próximamente pienso comprar otra para la época de frío y poderla usar en mis traslados mañaneros.

Für große Köpfe leider zu klein. Habe hinten etwas zur Verlängerung einnähen müssen.

Was a bit awkward to wear at first, but I’ve cut it up now so it now fit my enormous head and it’s very comfortable to wear

I bought the largest size as I ski daily in the winter. It works GREAT! Keeps your face and cheeks warm when it’s really cold out (-25c) and your goggles do NOT fog when wearing it. The only reason I didn’t give it 5 starts is it’s a little too small when you’re also wearing a balaclava and neck tube. I had to extend it with a couple of pieces of Velcro.
