Dr. MartensWomen's 1460 Black Greasy Leather Boot Combat

Pleased with the Boots.
This review is for the Black Greasy, Vietnam-made 8-hole boot. I wear a US size 10 in nearly every shoe on the market, and ordered a UK 9/US 10 male for this boot. They fit perfectly; maybe a little roomy in width but that is much better than too tight in a boot like this. They appear excellently made, look perfect, and are by far the most comfortable pair of Doc's I've ever encountered just out of the box. I think this is my fourth or fifth pair over the years, ranging from the early '90s through 2015, so I have some experience with this type of boot. I was able to get an excellent deal through an Amazon third-party seller (about $20 less than the Dr. Marten's website price, and free shipping) and am very happy with the boots and the purchase in general.

Great boots.
These are typical Docs. I bought this pair for my son for his birthday and he's worn them every day since, and that's over 6 months ago at the time I'm writing this review. I own several pair of Docs of my own. I've never been disappointed in any of them. Like almost all Dr. Marten's products, they run a little big. My son is extremely hard on shoes and Docs hold up for him better than anything else he's ever owned. These still look practically new even though he wears them every day and wears them to work. I bought the Black Greasy & they've never let me down. I own 2 pair of them myself in addition to this pair I bought for him. If you love Docs, you shouldn't be without a pair of Black Greasys.

Great boots! Buy them!!
I have had these boots for 2 years now, and when I put them on this morning I thought I'd write a review. These boots took awhile to break in, but they were worth it. They are great for standing and walking around, and wonderful when going out to shovel snow. I wear them in the winter knowing they will have the grip I need to walk around on the ice. They are comfy and everything I was looking for in a big black boot.

Runs large and it’s a good thing
Love the way it fits. I usually wear a size 6.5 and ordered a size 5. With a layer of Dr Scholls and Smartwool socks, feet are snug and comfy! Look forward to a few months/years after the newness wears off.

Cool and loose, but still cool!
Really cool looking and confortable shoes, however I haven/t walked much distance in them. The soles (the outsoles) are indeed very cushiony! I got the "greasy" finish which seems to feel softer than the "smooth" finish.I wear size 9 1/2 US medium in most shoes, so I got these in size 9 Medium US. They do seem a little loose in the width, so I hope they don't stretch out much more as they break in.Mine are made in Thailand, but the construction and materials seem great. But they are based on a classic model shoe, so they are not high tech...except for maybe the airsoles and the Goodyear Welt construction.

Love the classic look and feel of the 1460s
I had just bought the Dr. Martens Men's Sussex Work Boot and loved the fit. But I kept nurturing this secret love affair with the 1460 and its yellow stitching. I had to have it, and figured the fit would be at least as comfortable as the Sussex. I wasn't wrong. I'm so happy with these boots. They will be a daily wear for me this winter and I'll wear the Sussex when I need something a bit more dressy, like with slacks. The 1460 go perfectly with a pair of black skinny stretch jeans and an oversize black shirt. The "greasy black" leather is so soft and feels great as it conforms to my foot. These boots are really light weight and can be worn for long periods, like all day. The soft leather, I doubt would be suitable as literal WORK boots like out in the elements. Get some Red Wings or Rock Roosters for that. If and when my beloved 1460s wear out, I'll just get another pair. I might try another color before that happens though. They offers so many options... you gotta just keep buying them! It is a classic look and suitable for anybody.

Beautiful boots! Just make sure you know what size to order!
First things first. From my experience, everyone needs to start off by going down a half size to a full size. Dr. Martens are unique that way.For example. I am a size 7. I ordered the 6-6.5 B(M) US Women / 5-5.5 D(M) US Men.These shoes only offer 1 half size, the US 8.5, so I believe the range that they provided in my order (which I stated above) dictates the possibility of someone fitting the shoe if they fall within that range. With that said, your size will likely arrive in a whole size, UK 4, 5, 6, etc.A US women's 6-6.5 translates to a UK 4-4.5A US men's 5-5.5 translates to a UK 4.5-5 ***Most places don't carry this size for men. Doesn't matter though because this is a unisex shoe, and every shoe for that matter ;)The women's UK 4 size (US 6) is perfect for someone with a size US 7 foot. If you are a true US 7.5, they will be snug. However, ****FUN FACT****, if you take the bottom sole out (which I did with my last pair) they will add almost a half size to your fit. The sole doesn't provide any kind of arch support anyways, but it wraps around the inner perimeter of the boot, making the inside smaller. You can always add a less bulky inner sole that provides support. This provided sole may make the boot slitely more comfortable, but the boot will end up breaking in regardless, and the breaking-in process will be awful REGARDLESS. :DHope this helped.

Be patient with breaking them in
The leather fights back, but worth the few days of pain. After that, I think that they are more comfortable than any running shoe (to wear casually). I have wanted these for 25 years, and could not afford them until now. I feel I can re-live my 90's stone temple pilot and soundgarden grungy life on one end, feel that they are rugged enough to hike with, and after a shoeshine, I can wear with a nice shirt and jeans. Again......be patient with breaking them in.....its worth it in about a week.

Doc Martin's are great.
I've been a fan of doc's for about 25 years now and even though I technically had to send this particular pair back due to my own personal fault I will always give docs high marks.
