This was hilarious and relatable and adorable. I saw a friend on Instagram had read this, and put it on my radar. The Library had a copy, so I got to read it! Excellent fun!

A laugh-out-loud collection!
“I don’t want to get up. I get up, I have to see people and DO things.” Nooooo! Too funny….and true! These are sketchy comics about life and adulthood. A lot of them are so true and some of them are just plain funny. The doubtfulness of eternal love…literally. The synching of periods. I hate slow workers, too! How graduating feels—like being shoved out of an airplane and you’re not sure if the parachute even works.A laugh-out-loud collection!

the beginning of the scribbles
Sarah Andersen expresses herself through her art, which she calls scribbles. But that’s not all she does. She expressed all of us through her art. She writes about relationships and the struggles of being an introvert and her love for the smell of books. She is insecure and makes blanket forts for reading in and just wants to say home in her pajamas, and she is all of us. Or anyway, she is me.Through her cartoons, Andersen is honest about her feelings about herself, about school, about her boyfriend, and about snacks. She is willing to talk about her embarrassments and her life choices and how she is worried about her future. She also spends a lot of time thinking of herself as an old woman, looking back over her life and guessing at what she’d say about them when she’s in her 80s.She talks about the real things that come with being an adult—paying bills and setting alarms to wake up early and dealing with tampons and having to go to work. To her, graduation feels like jumping out of a plane with an unreliable parachute. Running into someone from high school is a trap. Being friends with other artists is both a blessing, as they can help make your work better, and a curse, as you want them to break their fingers so they can’t create better art than you.Adulting is complicated, and maybe not even all that real, but it does feel endless some of the time. More laundry, more bills, more paperwork, more people. Sometimes you just need a break from adulting, and that’s the perfect time to reach for a Sarah’s Scribbles book and hide in your book fort for a while.I loved Adulthood Is a Myth. Today was a challenging day, in a challenging week, during a challenging season at work, and I just needed a break tonight. I needed to feel like I was seen and celebrated for being human and tired and vulnerable and messy. I thought I’d be able to turn to Sarah’s Scribbles to get the understanding I wanted, and she did not disappoint. This book was a much-needed break for me, a calorie-free dessert at the end of a long tasteless meal. The more I read of Sarah’s Scribbles, the more I like her, and the more I want to keep reading.

Wit and Wisdom in Comic Book Form
Sarah Andersen nails growing up and "adulting" right on the head! I just wish there was a way that I could have made notations in this little gem of a funny book!

Hilarious book, perfect for anyone refusing to accept that adulthood is a thing :D
Sarah Anderson's book "Adulthood is a Myth" is AMAZING. So many of the strips resonate with the young adult audience who constantly find themselves in familiar situations, thus resulting in tears of laughter, and shouts of "OMG--THIS IS SO ME!" The drawing are perfectly and hilariously executed to depict everyday situations, annoyances, and embarrassments are hilariously sketched scenes. Although many of the comics in this book can be found individually on the web, there were still plenty of new, unseen ones as well. The only bad thing about this book is that it wasn't long enough-- I wanted to keep reading and laughing and crying tears of laughter for forever! Great book, and a perfect gift for anyone who can relate to the day to day life of young adults.

Awesome
I've seen her stuff for years as memes and being reposted elsewhere. I was very excited to find her actual books on Amazon. This one is the first one I've read and it's wonderful. I shall be buying the others.

Adorei
Eu acompanho os quadrinhos da Sarah Andersen há anos, não sabia que havia o livro em inglês para comprar no Brasil. A parte vermelha da capa é peludinha e oi papel e a encadernação de boa qualidade.

I love Sarah Andersen
Nothing more to say. If you loved Sarah Andersen's works online, you'll love this first collection of them. Her early artstyle is slightly different from the one she use now, it's nice to see that evolution.
