Legends of Paul Bunyan

This was everything I was hoping it would be -- from poetry to oral history this is by far the most diverse and complete collection I have come across to date. As a homeschooling mother with a Classical and Charlotte Mason influence I was looking to cover something of the local color when we moved back to the Wisconsin/Minnesota area. I was looking for more than a childrens book because I wanted the concept of the American Tall Tale and the personality of Paul to be absorbed over many days of bedtime stories. My 9-year-old begs me to read more and kept choosing this as the book of choice for "an extra story while we wait" moments.

The best collection available, hold up n to these.

A gift to grandchildren who are not exposed to folklore. Good for early readers (and old folks too). Tall tales and fun stories. Although the children to whom I gave the book preferred Pecos Bill to Paul Bunion.

This book is very comprehensive, and very well done. It has beautiful color images, and provides the most complete telling of Paul Bunyan stories of any book published to date. Just be aware it was published 70 years ago, and the quality is not that of a newer book. Even the "Very Good" copies are going to have issues.Even so, if you have any interest in Paul Bunyan at all, BUY THIS BOOK.
