More bang for your buck!
I can't believe the quality of this item compared to its price! It is made of very heavy, thick material and has nice grommets around the edges. I am very happy with this purchase!

A Practical Review from a Welder
I am a professional welder and I was tired of reading useless reviews where folks use these to cover smokers as it is not relevant to the intended purpose of these blankets.I bought two and yes, they have fiberglass floating around, you might get some in your hands, I never have but some soft hands might. Don't like floating messy fiberglass, I would recommend something not made of fiberglass. For light sparks, mig/tig/stick these work great. If you plan on placing these within inches of your weld they will likely be damaged. The key here is a maximum temperature of 1000 degrees as stated in the description. If you are cutting with either a plasma or a blue tip wrench and use this underneath the blanket will get burned, again, 1000 degrees. Molten slag straight off of the steel is quite a bit higher = burn hole. Using these to cover items that are on an angle is best. Sparks hit, roll off. Using them while a shooting a stream of sparks flies off your grinder within inches of the blanket and.....burn hole for obvious reasons.I burned up my blankets because of reasons listed above, they were needed on a job in a pinch so they were used and abused. I have two heavy duty blankets I've had for years. Have covered rubberized roofing with them, used cutting torches and welded over them and never damaged the rubber roof or anything else underneath of them. They are however, stiff as cardboard and take up about a 2ft x 2ft square when folded as small as you can.If you are worried about covering expensive seats or other items you absolutely don't want burned, either remove the item and take it out of the equation or get off that money and buy GOOD welding blankets or heavy leather. Nothing is guaranteed in the world of welding though. Sparks fly everywhere, add in bouncing sparks, other objects for sparks to bounce off of and they will get into places you wouldn't imagine. The only clothing I have that does not have burn holes is the leather jacket I use once in awhile. Even it has some severe burns but none have ever penetrated.A good example of slag droplets from welding and how long they stay hot. Welding at 200 plus feet and sometimes molten droplets fall. Add wind conditions and they are carried. I have seen many times where these molten drops fall 200 plus feet, blown in the wind and then start a fire on the ground. If you think of how hot it has to be to ignite a fire after falling for that distance, how hot is it going to be when it drops 2 feet onto your 1000 degree rated fire blanket?

Outside THE BOX.
I had to give the title this name. I bought an outdoor electric smoker. If the air is cool and/or a breeze is imminent, the temperature will fluctuate like crazy. Can't cook that way. I bought this blanket, the closest to the cookers size and just drape over it. It works.

Used on Pellet Grill
Great value for the money. I purchased this blanket to use in the winter to help insulate my pellet grill while cooking.

Perfect for our backyard wall
At our home we have our bar-b-que next to a beige painted wall. Over time (and a few accidents) the wall has become slightly blackened and sorry looking. Instead of constantly re-painting I decided to try out this blanket. It is perfect. It is a very generous size with grommets all around the material so that we can thread a cord through it and then affix it to the back wall behind the bar-b-que. It is shiney on one side and dull on the other - I assume there is no difference in the level of protection since there was no indication on the packaging - and hangs very nicely. The color blends well enough that it doesn't drive me crazy, and now I can leave it up during the summer and take it down in the fall with no damage or discoloration to the wall. The price is outstanding and the delivery was within 48 hours of my order. I can't speak for other applications, but for me it is the perfect solution for not having to look at soot on the wall and providing a little extra protection when cooking outdoors.

Another BBQ user love this thing!
Like almost everyone writing here, I am not a welder but a BBQer!I was having difficulty keeping the low smoking temps (250deg) stable for smoking with my Ducane Grill. This blanket may not be very elegant but boy does it do a great job of insulating! I was having to sit nearby and keep the two outside (of the five) burners on HIGH and then stay near to turn one or the other down as the temp crept up.With this "welding Blanket" draped front to back, attached by three zip ties to the lid handle, I now can smoke at 250, plus or minus about 5 deg! AND I have the same two outside burners set as low as they will go which means a LOT LESS gas use!!Like I said,m it ain't elegant but boy does it insulate!Hope this helps!
