The guide rail could have a higher wall to guide the foam. I found a tendency to ride up over it.

The wire cuts foam well enough, but if you're planning to do creative work where a modicum of accuracy is needed, you'll have to overcome the slop: the the aluminum fence can still wander after REALLY tightening it down and the wood attachment fence is useless - the groove cut in it to mate to the aluminum fence is larger than the fence thickness and as such, has about 1/2" play at the end. I've given up trying to use it. Since the circle cutter mates the same way to the fence, and is a very tight fit without any play, quality control must have slipped that day... As for the angle markings for adjusting the wire, also useless. They all off by 10 or so degrees and there's no way to "true" them in. You'll need a protractor or some other reference if you want to set the wire for an angled cut.

Wire would not heat up, tried troubleshooting but nothing seemed to work so I had to return it.

I tried at least 100 cuts and in the end only about 20% of my cuts were accurate enough to use. The wire sat tilted instead of a straight 90 degrees so even though I got a few squares that were true 90 degree angles on all sides, their edges were more like 80 degrees. In the end I returned the cutter and was given a full refund no hassle at all. It would be fine if you just needed a few simple cuts but if you're using it for terrain building it just wasn't accurate enough.

I use this to cut up 1/2 foam boards and this little tool does the job very well. Know you have about 9.5" to work with so if you have to cut anything wider then that this cutter will not work for you.
