I had high hopes for this foamie. I planned on using it in conjunction with my fiberglass Ozone to reduce fatigue. I also hoped to share it with friends interested in trying surfing for the first time. Unfortunately on my first outing with the board, I took a nose dive on a 4’er that not only produced and noticeable crack in the foam but also dislodged the GoPro mount. I wasn’t going to risk losing my hero 6 so I retired the board for the rest of the trip and reverted back to my trusty Ozone. Good thing I kept the box because I plan on returning it as soon as I get home.Update: I’ve decided to change my rating from one to two stars based on South Bay Board’s excellent Costumer Service. After posting my previous (unsatisfied) review and rating, South Bay contacted me to inform me they were sending me another board free of charge so I can give their product another go. Perhaps the previous board was defective, or perhaps it was simply a fluke. Either way I’ll give it another go in the autumn surf and get back to you.LA, out.

Warning: Hit my head pretty hard on a box snowboarding a couple days ago (with a helmet... shout out to helmets for saving people’s lives).
Crazy easy delivery, convenient size and weight (fits inside of civic hatchback and can be easily carried up and down stairs).  No waxing required and great shape/size if you have experience on the big foam boards. Perfect for beginners as well as those looking to grow with the board.  Seems super durable and well made - like it will actually last if treated well. Packaged extremely well in the mail.

In rating this product it provided a window into what I value most--customer service. Fortunately, in many years of buying products using mostly Amazon Prime, I rarely need to send something back or exchange it. On the few occasions when I've had to do so, it's usually a giant pain in the neck in terms of the time spent trying to address the issue and dealing with the company and/or company's representatives, etc. In all candor, there have been occasions when I'll essentially eat the order because I know the time commitment is too large to carry out the exchange/return. This was not the case with my Ruccus surfboard. I bought it for my boys (ages 18, 13 and 10) and I, who are all novices but wanted something a little smaller than a longboard (our other family board). The Ruccus board was a great fit for all of us and absolutely met our needs and I would recommend it. In our case, however, after a handful of uses, the rubber bumper fell of during some decent-sized waves, and the nose of the board was separating (between the foam top and the bottom deck). It was minor but I was concerned that it would get worse. So, I emailed the company via Amazon to see how I should handle this issue. I thought maybe if I were lucky they would send a bumper and provide appropriate directions on how to repair the board. Honestly, I wasn't sure what would happen, if anything. At any rate, within minutes of my email being sent, I received a reply from Alex, who wrote that he was sorry about whatever happened to my board and also indicated that he would sent out a brand new board to me and throw in a surfboard cover for my troubles. Incredible. Within a day and a half I received the new board, cover, leash, etc. Again, this was above and beyond what I expected, and I am extremely appreciative. I rarely write reviews, but I felt it was necessary to highlight this tremendous customer service, and because of it I know I'll be buying future boards from South Bay Board Co. In this manner, I would give them my highest recommendation.

Started out with a 8' gold coast board that broke on me due to my own fault and Alex replaced it and had it across the country in my mailbox (not literally) within 5 days. I broke that one too and recorded to buy another board and try a 7'footer since I've been going out a lot with my 8'footer and have been making progress. The 7' ruckus is great and I'm able to maneuver a lot better. I'll continue to buy boards even after I break this one. I'll be going out tomorrow to catch the butt end of the hurricane swells which are forecasted at 8'. FedEx delivered the board yesterday (6/12). We are in a weather pattern where winds are picking up to over 20 mph, rain, and lots of chop with less than 2 ft surf....so I haven't tried the board as of now. I had to examine the board off the FedEx truck because it had a hole in the middle of the box...where it says fragile! I ripped the box where the hole was and the bottom of the board looked OK. Thank you SBBC for doing a great job packing the board. Layers of bubble wrap, cardboard over the rails, and the shipping box truly protected the board. I only wish I took a picture of the condition of the box...every edge was crushed. I have a 9" cutaway I tried to slide into the fin box and it wouldn't fit for some reason. I tried a 7.25" cutaway and it fit. But, I decided to try your fin first to see how the performance is. So far, the board looks great, and for a foamy there are a lot of positives...because it hasn't been in the water and I don't know about the no wax-finger print top I gave you 4 STARS. I'm excited to give it a try. The last foamy I had was the Morey Doyle back in the ?. If this is anything like that, I upgrade to 5 Stars...

I got the 8 foot board and it had some problems with delivery but customer service was great and handled it. Once the board came in, it was in great shape and good for a beginner myself. I just took it out for my first surf and was able to catch a couple white water waves. Excited to get better and progress with the board.PS. it fits inside of my 4 door acura aslong as i put my passenger seat all the way back. for those who are wondering cause I did ahaha
