Togu TG3828YG-AB Brass 220-degree Door Viewer with Heavy Duty Privacy Cover, Antique Bronze Finish Review
Quick review of the Togu TG3828YG-AB Brass 220-degree Door Viewer. There was no review of the product when I purchased – I had to gamble. I thought I would supply more detailed information so others may make a more informed decision.Okay... This thing is VERY large and heavy for a peephole – about the diameter of an Eisenhower silver dollar (38.1mm/1.5in.) on both the inside of the door and the outside lens.Inside barrel diameter/installation requires a stepped-bit capable of 1.125in. (1 1/8"); Placing inner covered-lens and outer lens though respective sides of the door and screwing together. There is no notch to place a screw driver to tighten as on some smaller peepholes, but it seemed to tighten-up fine by hand. The lens is made of glass- seemingly of quality, and has a very clear, clean and WIDE view; very nice indeed. The peephole has an inside privacy cover which swings from a single rivet-like hinge. The cover is nice and heavy with a tiny knob/tab that sicks out- it has the Name TOGU lightly engraved on the inside privacy cover as well- I thought I should mention this as it may bother some.I may be a bit concerned and hoping that the swinging rivet-hinge will hold up to repeated use over time... only time will tell. The color of the product is misleading if one tries to judge by the "main" provided Amazon picture- The product is NOT a darker brownish antique bronze color as represented in the first, large picture. Rather it is a lighter, more traditional antiqued-brass color represented better by the five smaller pics provided below it.The warranty is listed as both a "five-year replacement warranty" at the top of the page, and later on the page as "limited lifetime replacement warranty" under "warranty description" so, have a guess I suppose...I am quite satisfied with the quality of the piece especially for the price paid; just be aware of the non-traditional large-size, and above mentioned color issues before ordering.

Clear View, Good Quality
The optics seem quite good, and the view is clear and ample. Product quality appears to be quite good, and the feel is solid. Product finish seems quite good also. We have a west facing front door which gets a lot of late-day sun. Time will tell how the finish holds up. I suspect it will do fine.

Big and Nice
Big and nice. Wide angle that is so clear and bright that you don't have to be right next to it to see outside. Very blurry from the other side, but someone with the right spy lens could probably see through so use the privacy cover to prevent this. It is well made with nice fit and finish.Drawbacks which keep me from rating 5 stars:1. No wrenching ability to make super-tight.2. No gasket. Not a big problem for me since my door is out of the elements and in California, but sometimes we hose off the door when cleaning and water may get in. May or may not be a bigger deal for you if you have high humidity.3. Angle is not quite wide enough for crouching baddies unless you drill the hole very low. I didn't want to do that.I still recommend it for those who will not find these drawbacks a big deal.To help clear things up on installation, the hole size is 1-1/8" (1.125"), which is close to 28mm if you have a metric bit. This leaves a little clearance but not too sloppy. I used this bit: "Neiko® 10189A Step Drill Bit | 12-Step Bit with Titanium Coat" http://smile.amazon.com/dp/B000RP82F8 and drilled it all the way through my hardwood door like buttah.

It has a little door.......
It was inexpensive, appeared to be well made and installation was easy. I installed it with a straight edge and a hole saw. It remains to be seen how well it holds up to the weather here in SE Alaska, but so far, so good. If it conks out, I will be back here to update!

Color Off
The color of the peep hole I received was in no way similar to the one received. I returned it immediately. I believe that the Togu products are not being photographed correctly as this is the second one that I returned with the color being completely off.

Mine came disassembled -- no instructions with regard to sequence and orientation of lenses
The good: This is a substantial piece for the price. I would call it well made. Nice and heavy. Solid brass and glass. The not so good: mine came in pieces. I had to spend a lot of time arranging the glass lenses in different orders, flipping them over and swapping which one goes where until I found what looks like the best view. So I really don't know if it's assembled in the right order. Clearly one can tell which piece of the kit goes in from the inside of the door and which from the outside. But figuring out the order of the lenses in the barrel piece that goes in from the outside (the section WITHOUT the little swing cover), was time consuming and pure deductive guesswork. Making it more difficult was the presence of a little washer that also had to be figured into the many possibilities of placement. Wouldn't hurt to have a simple diagram showing the order of the lens and washer placements. So it's installed and working. I have no idea if the image I see is what is supposed to be seen. It's a wide-angle effect and a little blurry until I adjust my view through the reader portion of my bifocals. Then the image is clearer but objects are somewhat distant (which may be attributable to the wide angle view). There's a little bit of an effect of looking through a tube.So would probably be a great product when assembled correctly but I have no way of knowing if mine is.

Quality safety peep hole
A lot of accolades from the wife for letting her see how is on the other side of our solid door. Quality is exceptional and the conical drill that they recommended to go with the peep hole make the job a breeze.

Large and In Charge
This gets the job done and the quality seems ok, but it’s huge! Probably at least 3xs the size of a normal peephole. I should have read the measurements first, but who knew peepholes came this big. You need a special bit to install.
