A nice clean piece of hot roll steel bar.I don't see how anyone would give this a poor rating when they buy it for a use it's not made for.It is not hardenable so it won't make knives. It is a structural steel or "weld steel.""People, educate yourself on what steels to use for a project, such a knife. Oil hardening tool steel is great for knives.

Yes, I probably could have gone to a local store and bought this but.....after going to several big box hardware stores, none of them had the size I needed. My alternative was to try and find a metal working shop and hope I could get to them during their business hours but my working hours typically prevent me from being able to go to these types of non-retail businesses in my area because they normally close around 4p. This is exactly as advertised and works perfectly for my application and it was delivered right to my front door. Good piece of steel and very convenient to buy on Amazon.

I ordered this piece of steel for a project I was building. It was one of the last couple remaining pieces I had needed. I built my project needing a 48" long piece of steel at this thickness. I received a piece they cut short of 48 inches. It is not worth my time returning or exchanging. This was also a feeler purchase to see if this would be another viable resource to buy metal I need for projects. Apparently they cross off or delete any negative feedback on the seller's page. My review is no longer there. I also see I don't have the option to leave another seller feedback from my settings page. Just an FYI, I ordered from Leverage Liquidators. Buyer beware. Anyway, this metal is not bad quality. There is no warping. They are cut straight in every way. You just will not get what you pay for in getting the full size as listed.

Used this for making a knife for my brother in law. Turned out great after heat treatment and tempering. I vinegar etched the blade and attached handles of his choice with kidex sheath. Took an edge like a razor and passed all the tests i put it up to.

Its A36 steel .... I'm welding up a LED lighting bracket out of it. Probably overkill but thats what I used on the other LED light bar so I choose to go with the same thing again!For A36 steel, the price seems awful high!!!!Would I buy it again, no, probably buy it locally from a local fabrication shop for less than half of what I paid!
