Not too hard to assemble, it looks great in the room. Very sturdy. Drawers have a thin cardboard bottom - so can't hold much weight. Glad I purchased.

Pros: looks good, pretty solid, and functional. Can’t wait to put a book or two in it next to a plant that’s sitting in a niece Boho planter.Cons: I absolutely hated building this thing. Like I’d rather buy a Monthly membership to a club where a guy with big hands wears a catchers mitt while he checks my prostate than build this 13th century torture device again. I’ve built furniture before , and while there are always one or two parts that are a pain in the butt, most build at home furniture isn’t much of a headache for me.This thing felt like every part of it was the worst part.Every screw was difficult.Every turn was pain.Every twist led to someplace darkIt changed meIt was like an episode of Band of Brothers, but I was all alone, it wasn’t WW2, there were no Germans, and I was just building a stupid bookshelf in my living room in the middle of a global pandemic.I wanted to quit so many times, but I also didn’t want to deal with it in the morning so I just soldiered on like some sort of prisoner on the third level of endless IKEA hell.I got it half assembled and realized the largest pieces were on the wrong sides so I had to take it apart and start over. Yeah, I read the instructions, but when you’re in a blind rage where you’re just torquing an Allen wrench into oblivion, sometimes you miss an instruction or two.Towards the end, I was a lot like Ralphie in Christmas story when he beats up the bully. Remember that part? That was me - I was just crying and crying and swearing up a storm that would make a Midwestern Italian cross country truck driver proud while punching away with an Allen wrench until my knuckles started to bleed and my wife went into the other room.3/5 stars

Shelf is sturdy but the company evidently didn’t want to send me their new wood and sent damaged pieces that had scratches and chips that they tried to cover up with marker.

I bought two ladder shelves. Mostly easy to put together; a little time consuming but not terrible. One of the drawers was defective, so I contacted SimpliHome. Their communication was fast and easy, but they were unable to provide us with replacement parts. So we had to take down the whole unit, pack it up, and send it back to Amazon for a whole brand new ladder shelf. That was a pain, but shipping was free both ways and we ended up getting a unit that had no issues. The SimpliHome customer service rep contacting me to follow up on how the return went, and offered a $40 refund for our troubles. Overall, it's a beautiful piece of furniture, and I would buy from them again for the great customer service.

We purchased these as part of an update to the look of out living room. I was a little hesitant to buy wood furniture from Amazon, but took a chance. When they arrived I immediately noticed how heavy the boxes were. Upon opening the boxes, the pieces were packed very well. No damage on either of the two we ordered. The finish was good as well. Once put together, they are very sturdy and look great. We are very pleased.

Furniture in a box so don’t expect top of line. It’s looks nice enough though there are some minor flaws in the finish. One you figure out the orientation of the shelves to the legs, assembly is pretty easy. Certainly two pairs of hands would help but I did assemble it alone. Once assembled it’s solid. The sides (legs) are solid and one continuous piece per side. That means the box is rather large to accommodate the pieces that form the height of the case. Some of the cheaper alternatives come with half legs for more compact boxing. For those units the two half legs on each side slide together and they make a very wobbly structure. This isn’t. Its not furniture store quality and is priced accordingly. We got the saddle brown. I noticed the other colors were priced considerably higher. Also noticed a wide range of prices among 3rd party sellers. For a shelf unit in a box and the price we paid, I’m satisfied.

I recently purchased this ladder shelf. The UPS guy had to lug it up one flight of stairs for me (I live in a 2nd floor condo) and I'm so glad he did (I would have helped if I had known how big it was!). Anyway, the box it comes in is 6 1/2 feet long. It is very heavy - I think around 70 lbs. The pieces are packed very very well, which means everything was in good condition after shipping. All you have to do to put it together is attach the shelves to the side pieces. And there are extra screws and little knob things for the screw-hole covers. I used a little bit of hot glue on a few of the little knobs because they didn't want to stay stuffed inside the hole. I don't plan on moving this piece so I'm not worried about having to access the screws to re-tighten them. The shelf unit looks great in my home office.

Substantial with a unique fastener system, which made assembly easy, but I was glad I hadn't planned to use these in the main part of my house, as each one I ordered (two total) had several repaired wood blemishes, which were very obvious. I'm using them in a spare bedroom to hold paperback books, so they'll work fine.

This requires a little extra attention and room when building but is still pretty easy. I noticed when assembling, some surfaces weren’t flush, which could be due to the fact it is actual wood, when it came together, you can’t notice. I got mine around 43% off or so, in at 220$ or something. I noticed the regular price of 500$ which would be pretty steep for this item, for my thoughts anyway.

Great shelf, looks nice and is stable. Vertical pieces are wood, shelves themselves are some kind of MDF but seem sturdy and look great. Currently using this as a plant shelf.

Very nice and sturdy, but the drawers are almost impossible to open.
