If you're not planning on using this 8 hours a day, 5 days a week, this is a pretty decent choice.The cord is definitely short, and it's obviously repurposed from a basic camera ringlight, with the color balance control and USB power. But it has a nice range of brightness, and gets bright enough to use. The lens is nice and sharp and crisp without any significant waviness or color distortion.The metal parts and hinges and so on are definitely built down to a price. Things are going to loosen up and bend eventually. However, it looks like it is made with decent quality nuts and bolts, and the metal is thick enough, and things are made well enough that as long as you're reasonably gentle with it, it should last for a while, and be easy enough to keep going for a while longer.If the magnifier is something you're going to need to use all the time then you're probably better off finding something better. However, if you just need one sometimes for basic home projects and hobbies, this one is not bad at all. I've seen far, far worse for not much cheaper.

I use this light for small 1/100 scale model painting and the magnification is perfect. The arm swivels without excessive noise or bending like cheaper units. Recommended.

Bought for my dad, as he’s in his fifties and needs reading glasses and recently picked up his old hobby of building model cars. He says it works great and is very useful for light and magnification.

EDIT: Seller reached out to me and after a couple of emails back and forth decided that the item was defective. Sent a new unit and after testing, I immediately noticed a difference as there was not a very slight high pitched whine. I think I received a defective unit the first go around. With shipping and warehousing I assume a measurable amount of shaking, dropping, and other mishandling occurs. I'm stoked to have this back as it's great for painting. Well done LANCOSC!Original: Loved the product while it worked, seriously. The LED light simply stopped working after a week of use.Didn't mistreat the device or anything, just turned in on 3-4 times for about an hour at a time to paint warhammer miniatures. Reached out to the company directly using the information contained in the packaging with no response. I'd typically return something like this, but frankly it's not worth removing this from my paint station as I had to create a custom mount to make this work. Plus wasting my time and effort driving to the UPS store to return it isn't worth it. I'll update my review if anything changes, but I think I'll remove this when I have some spare time this week and chuck it.

This unit is ok. It illuminates well. It does magnify well but the size of the glass is small. A small circle of glass means that the sweet spot for viewing something under magnification is small. It is frustrating in that any slight movement and what you are trying to focus on blurs. if you can get what you're working on to be stable in the middle of the magnifier, it works fine. But it takes some effort to hold it steady - steadier than I've had to do with my previous magnifier - which died. Won't buy this one again. Will specifically look for something larger.The control module which is in-line on the cord works fine. The arm is stable and holds its position. it clamps well to a work surface.
