I have a two thousand sixteen RAM fifteen hundred SLT and this fits perfectly in my tailgate. Just so you know, the rubber stopper will be removed on the driver's side since they did fail to mention that it stays removed to make room for the shock. Works very well to slow the descent of the tailgate and does not add any additional resistant when closing it. Only things that could make this better is if they made the bolt included the same size (use the same Allen key) as the other one used to create the anchor.The main thing that is the most confusing I found was when you are making the anchor for the bolt and plate on the tailgate itself. It does not actually tell you that is what you are doing and there's a lot of text about turning how many times and marking things and such so that you don't strip the threads or over tighten. The way that I found works best is to figure out what the distance the bolt needs to be when you create the anchor and just go until you reach that measurement. I gave my brackets a quick painting with a spray bomb cause I read they rust . So now they should be good took 20 mins from start to end watch the utube video for it. it will make your life easier . Other reviews say it's not good in winter time . And I can see why cause the shock is oil filled and just like all old hatchbacks and cars that had oil-filled shocks to hold the hood up after about 2 years your replacing them . But it is a cheep fix and the brackets look well made and I give it 5 stars. If you liked my review hit the helpful button and let me know thanks.

The Tailgate assist works great! No more slamming tailgate down. Easy lift back up to close.It could have been 5 stars if they had used outdoor materials. After a month I have a rusty mount on my brand new truck. I guess they have not heard of Stainless Steel, Galvanized Metal or Aluminum, all would work better that the crap they use.After this one bent and I could not close my tailgate, I bought another. This has been installed for 18 months and you can see the rust. My truck is a 2018 and has no rust, only on this product.Sad that they can't use quality products for the price they charge.

My initial install didn't go so well. The lock nut that is supposed to compress wasn't. A call to their customer service line and they provided a solution (just add some of the locktite to the screw, let set for an hour, try again - it worked great). There are some great videos available on their site to show the installation - it really is very easy to install, once you figure it out. I highly suggest watching the videos before you start the install. Having done one now, I would be able to install the next one in 10 mins. After the install - tested it out and - FANTASTIC. Works like a charm !! Very cool. The same feature from the dealer as an "option" is some stupid price like $250 or something. This does the same job for $30 !!AS OF APR 18'2018 - after less than a year, it has crapped out - see pic's. HOWEVER - DeeZee customer service was EXCELLENT. They answered email within minutes. I submitted pdf receipt and a few pics - they are replacing the unit. All this was resolved in less than an hour. I have read the other reviews about product quality and while I would have hoped it lasted more than a year, they are standing behind their product. I still give it a 5 star rating and customer service a 6 star

I put this in a few days ago, its still working and works great. I went on "YouTube" to make sure I was doing this right and be 100% sure of the install and that was perfect. The website is on the instructions. The install took me about 15min on my 2017 Ram 1500 and fit well. I needed to take out the rubber stopper/wedge to make room for both the new shock and the new plastic clamp for the wire that is included. Read the instructions and go on YouTube. Make sure this fits YOUR vehicle before you order it. NO need to drill holes. I love the product, Price is great, good quality and it was delivered quickly. I do recommend this and would order it again. G.P. Just a follow up on this....I have had it a few weeks now and it is still great BUT the extra cable attachment that comes with this gets caught up sometimes when opening and closing the tailgate. Its not that much of an issue but you have to be careful with the tailgate when you open/close it. I may just take off the cable attachment but I am not sure the cable will fall into place when closed.It is on there pretty tight so I don't want to bugger up either one.
